One suppressor for everything?

Man with suppressors in 2026 other than money there's no reason not to have dedicated cans for each gun.

Especially since there's some really affordable options.

As far as a 22 can those are cheap! Like $250-400.
I can't wait to see those new Lymans actually be in stock somewhere. :)

The whole SC opposed the removal of the tax stamp is a an Internet rumor that SC categorically denied. SC comes in for a lot of vitriol online and some of it may be justified. But the Banish 22 is legit, I have had great CS interactions with them, and they did an excellent job on four barrel threading jobs.
It wasn't a good look for them and while some of it is internet speculation, I don't have those questions about where Palmetto State Armory, Silencer Shop, or SilencerCo stand, because they were much more explicit and are still engaged in trying to legally challenge the NFA status of suppressors. It's a poor choice of words for me to say they are a "little scummy" on this example alone.

There are many infamous alleged cases of bad customer service from Palmetto State Armory. I think it's just as valid to not do business with someone because of bad customer service. Just as it is valid to not do business with someone because they might not be aligned with one's own personal principles.

One can to cover .22LR plinking/hunting, a 6mm, 7mm or 30 cal rifle or rifle caliber pistol and a larger caliber pistol like a 44 mag (both pistols mentioned are single shot)
Sounds like a minimum of three cans.

Rimfire, .30cal, and big bore.

I thought I would only be purchasing one can when I bought my first one. Four cans later...

Lots of good feedback here. I'll share the same idea as previously stated. I started with the 'one suppressor for everything' and rarely use it now. I now have 7, and enjoy their specificity greatly. I'd recommend starting with a dedicated 22 can, and one as specific as you can find for your rifle application. More will likely follow, they're addictive and fun!

I'm for sure moving to one suppressor per rifle. That said, my first suppressor, a TBAC Ultra 7 30-cal is a great option if you only want to own one. Put a CB mount on all your rifles and shoot happy.

Gandalf: There is only one Lord of the Ring, only one who can bend it to his will. And he does not share power.

I'm a total Tolkien nerd. I worked on the 3rd Hobbit film in New Zealand. Bucket list. No, I did not get to hunt because I was working 80 hrs a week.

I don't have any suppressors but I am thinking about the Banish 30 for my first.
I’d strongly recommend you don’t get a banish 30.

No. It's a pipe dream and if you try it you'll end up with one or more cans that might do everything in theory but really do nothing well.

I could see getting one bigger bore can to handle .44 or .45 stuff but the 'one for every use' quest is a fool's errand, IMO.

ETA: I have 4 cans. I want at least 4 more now. I get tired of constantly swapping them.
Concur, in the same exact boat…

Legit question.

How much do you shoot a week/month/year? How many range trips and how many rounds?

Because I'm still in the "I'm not entirely sure I need a can" phase of this. Ear Pro isn't that uncomfortable or inconvenient and I can endure a lot of BS for $1000 plus for multiple cans and the machining work to install/use them.
He didn’t answer, but I will. I shoot the 46m, a lot. Over 100 rounds through it this afternoon sitting on my 5.56. I would suggest getting it with the hub mount. It’s heavier, but quick and secure detach and attach to a different firearm. I have had it on multiple rifles from 5.56 to a 30 nosler. It wears a 30 cal endcap basically full time. Only to be swapped out for the 45 cal one rarely.

Why fight it? Just buy like 5 silencers like everybody else here.
If it was only 5. Honestly, 3 should cover most people, 22 rimfire, 30 cal, 45 cal. Rimfire cans are cheap and do get dirty faster than cf rifle cans. A good 30 cal can will cover most people’s cf rifles. I really don’t do 30 cal, so I usually got for the 6.5 version. I do use big bores, so I have several 375/45 cal cans. Still on the quest for the optimal 45 cal cans.

I’d strongly recommend you don’t get a banish 30.
Why? I think I saw it's quieter than a TBAC U7 at a silencer summit.

It's user serviceable and easy to switch between short for hunting and long for range days. The tool included works fantastic for removing the end cap. Just need a dab of antiseaze.

i should clarify and elaborate. yes, get yourself one centerfire can and one rimfire can to start. it's not just about ear protection. it's an increase in the enjoyment of the experience and if you hunt, it's an effective tool to include in your hunts. but when you take an AR to the range that's threaded 1/2-28, and a hunting rifle in 5/8-24, you're either buying adapters or mounts that will allow you to move across platforms, or you're unscrewing pieces of your suppressor to change mounts and you quickly realize the solution is, more suppressors! or not taking a bunch of different guns to the range.

at this point in my life, i don't shoot unsuppressed. and i still wear ear protection. my unthreaded rifles are nice to look at, but i don't need to shoot em. which brings us to the second truism of firearm ownership, get more rifles!
