So I’ve been getting into trad and am enjoying it very much. Right now I have a some what of a cheaper setup but it’s going good. I am considering purchasing a custom bow and looking hard at black widow, have called them few times asking dozen questions. What are yall opinions would you get a one piece or a take down model?. Shoot off the shelf or get a springy rest.I know there’s pros/cons to each one but would like some opinions

If you plan on traveling for hunting, get a takedown. If you even plan on having heavier and lighter limbs, a takedown is nice also. If you never travel, or plan on having multiple limbs then either one is fine.

Shelf or Springy is totally your choice. Plenty of successful trad guys that do both. Spriny is a bit easier to tune, but tuning off the shelf is not that hard.

I have a black widow on order right now. There current lead time is around 10-12 months. I still have about 4 months to go!

Yeah one of the guys told me that today…more then likely will pull the trigger on it got to put a deposit down this week. Still trying to decide on what color wood and everything. What model did you end up getting

Good advice. A one piece is hard to travel with.

I did the BW test run comparing it to my ILF's....I liked the ILF's better but I can see why guys like those BW's- good bows.

I’m a one piece fan. And I shoot off the shelf. And I shoot a 66” longbow. And I have a black widow PLX on order that should be ready the same time as nevadabugle but he’ll probably get his before I do 🤣🤣

Thats the plan! I am gonna give Toby a call a month or so before the Compton Rendezvous and remind him I will be there and he can keep the shipping costs if he brings it to the Rendezvous! Likely won't work, but worth a try!

Yeah mine won't be ready till June. I actually won a custom Black Widow build at last years Rendezvous! Alaska Bowhunters Association was doing a drawing for anyone who joined or renewed at the shoot and I won! Couldn't believe it!
Heck yeah!!!!! That’s freaking outstanding. I’ve been wanting to get one for a good while so I figured it was time to get on the list

I've have two take town recurves and also a one piece longbow. I've personally taken a truck every place that I've hunted so I've have never even taken part any of my bows. If you need to fly a take down is the way to go. Eventually ill get a piece longbow for when I'm planning on a trip to Africa in a few years.

I just started shooting traditional bows last January. I wasn't sure I would like it, so I started with a Black Hunter and got a couple strings made for it and tuned some arrows. In February I found a 1 piece Wengerd Tahr longbow. Thought I found the holy grail. It was great until I flew to RMS in March to work with Tom. Good luck flying with a 1 piece. I ended up selling it and ordering a BW PSA on July 3rd. Now I'm patiently waiting for my bow and still shooting my Black hunter.

I went back and forth and decided on a springy rest due to ease of tunning. I will be able to micro tune with a spring where off the shelf is a little tougher.
