After shooting a savage model 99 with an $80 scope since i was a teenager I'm ready to spend for a newer/lighter setup. I have a 6.5creed Tikka Roughtech on the way (specter, 20in threaded barrel from EuroOptic). Curious for thoughts as i finalize what i'll be buying for rings, scope, and supressor - really just want to buy once cry once here and use it for the next decade. For context, I'm based in VA and 9/10 animals i shoot will be deer size at shorter ranges, but will start to practice at longer distances and mix in rifle mule deer/elk hunts in the future (have only archery hunted the west). Main questions below:

1. Rings: UM rings seem like the easy button - am i missing anything here?
2. Scope: If can get by fine with my cheap old nikon this fall (as i have the last decade+), just waiting for the S2H scope seems like the best move (vs buying a maven/SWFA ect) - agree?
3. Supressor: OG 6.5 or airlock? Anything coming out soon that would be worth waiting on?

I don’t know where you are in Virginia, but if you are anywhere close to Charlottesville or along the 81 corridor from Staunton to Wytheville, there’s a good chance I can meet up with you and let you get a look at my setups.

1. I highly recommend the UM rings. I have them on all four of my Tikka center fires. I personally prefer the lows.
2. I currently own ten SWFA scopes. That’s down from a high of twelve. I also have one Trijicon. If you can get your hands on an SWFA 6x or 3-9x40, I recommend it. Even if you eventually get a S2H scope, I don’t think you would lose much reselling the SWFA.
3. I have the OG 6.5 and Airlock 6.5. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one.

If you are interested in meeting up at my range near Charlottesville (or somewhere else mutually convenient), please send me a PM.
