Oldies but goodies ammo edition

Even back then California sucked! :D

I have seen a slight trend of ammo makers to lean back towards the olde tyme ammo boxes and away from the shiny, flashy modern stuff. Winchester's rifle ammo is a key example of this. Whomever decided to put those beautiful images of deer and other animals on the box deserves a promotion! A few years back, Federal redid their regular game load shotgun shells to the old blue and white boxes with the red stripe. Those were before my time originally, but it's nice to see the retro look.

Super speed .219 zipper - sounds like maybe the parent case was 30-30. Rifle was a lever action unfortunately lost in a fire just a handful of spent cases remain.

My dad's first rifle was a 30-40 Krag straight military surplus. Might get to take it out for Utahs new open sight rifle season

Bought 13 loaded boxes of the 22-250 ammo from an older gentleman a few years ago for $10/box mainly for the brass…it still shoots like it should though. Shotgun shell boxes have been accumulated over the years.

Cool thread - interesting stuff. I'm going to have to check my ammo storage to see what I have left. I used to dumpster dive for old ammo boxes at various ranges. I found mostly shotgun shell boxes, sometimes still with shells. Unfortunately many were stolen and/or damaged during a move.

I believe this is steel shot, a magnet will pick it up, but wasn’t sure by looking at the box. I’m going to check a few of the other boxes and see if I can read a price tag.
