I have the opportunity to purchase an older STS 20 -60 spotting scope. What can you tell me about this scope. Good or Bad. Also what are these scopes valued at. Thanks for the info

Should be a good spotter even though it isn't HD. Is it a 65 or 80, what is the price? Optically it will be good but in bright situations like in snow you'll see some yellowing or CA.

If a 65 I'd go around $1100 and if an 80 $1350.

It is a 65mm non HD 20 - 60x eyepiece. Decent shape. I can purchase for $900.00 ? I believe there is a way to tell year mfg from serial number if anyone can inform me. Thanks for the replies

Add 1930 to the first 2 digits of serial # example first 2 digits are 68 then they were manufactured
In 1998

So long as it was purchased from a North American dealer, swaro will confirm this, it still holds its warranty and is a steal at 900.

Smokin deal, quick go buy it before he realizes. Recently a ATS 65 non hd body sold for $900 here. 20-60 usually goes for $300-$350 used.

This will be better then anything new in the $1000 range.

Just to clarify this is an STS model non HD not an ATS. I don't even know what is different older to new models

Some thing optically, only difference is angled vs straight. Only diff from that year is it isn't HD but really it is a great spotter optically.
