okay..mid afternoon. you get hungry at work..what do you eat?

Im 24 and eat every 2 hours, i eat enought to shame a horse i swear! I have a great metabolism but.... Where i work you are in the middle of the dessert with no one around and you cant leave to go get food. So i load my lunch box with anything i can and usually am hungry for 5 out of my 10 hour days.... This job lets you sit back and be lazy if you let it though so im trying to limit my ability to just eat all day non stop and not be active.... But I like to cook enough elk to feed 4-5 people at night and then take half to work for lunch the next day. Works pretty good! In my mind the best "Diet" you can go on is simple... Only eat it if you harvested or grew it yourself.... Which isnt easy to do of course but apply that idea to your eating habits.... Try to find a small farm near you where they sell the excess that they grow, or a rancher who cuts up beef and pork himself. These local farms will have less chemicals and hormones in my opinion than anything you can get in any store, stick to natural foods and you will feel better and your body will thank you... Just my personal opinion though....

I'm somewhere in the middle on the chemicals/hormones scare being pushed on us currently.... But regardless of your stance, you have to admit this is humorous.

I go to my local megamart and pick up a party pack of boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Usually the ones with a bright orange sticker that say "Manager's Special: Buy These Before I Feed Them To An Animal". Get them home. Make sure they are the first bag out of the car. Heavily coat with a yummy dry rub (I have made my own in the past but use this local guy right now http://albukirkyseasonings.com/). Let them sit out at room temperature while I unload the other groceries. Roast in a 425*F oven for 20-30 minutes or until they hit an internal temp of 160 degrees...Chill and store.

I love these. The rub combined with the greasiness of thighs and the protein makes them very satisfying: to the belly, and to the palate.

You're making my mouth water...
That sounds even better than the egg white, 3oz of lean diced steak, broccoli, & touch of mozzarella omelet I had for lunch/dinner :(
28# down, 25 to go.

Almonds are my newest favorite snack food and I love that they're super easy to carry around wherever I go. If I happen to be at home my go-to will be a salad or a piece of fruit. I've recently had a major goal of reducing my reliance on processed foods. For the last 2 months I've nearly eliminated cereal, crackers, chips. At the outset I thought this would be really hard and take major will power, but I've found that my other snacks are just so much more satisfying that I don't have cravings the way I used to. I just have to always make sure the alternatives are well stocked. It helps to have just barely too much in the way of fruits/veg so there's a bit of pressure to eat it many times a day so nothing goes to waste.

Here's some stuff I'm packing for lunch now...

2x tiger milk bars, chobani yogurt,
Sliced green peppers, carrots, broccoli, green beans with ranch dipping sauce, turkey/Swiss sandwich, 2x Special K crispy thing bars (delicious!), maybe a container of canned pears, chocolate milk, and a tuna packet with ritz crackers. I'll snack and eat throughout the day on all that and still be starving for dinner at 6 PM. Already feeling 10x better though compared to gas station and truck stop good every day.
