That is a hard part leaving right in the middle of the migration but I had a friend that was going to run the grand with his dog and didnt get the chance when his dog got sick and died last year at five years old. I have said since i got mine this was a goal we had and after seeing what happened to him i have to do it. I have a friend that lives 15 minutes from the grounds in Tennessee and he has lined up pre training with a couple of the best pros. To good of an opportunity to pass up.

That sounds awesome. I'm still hoping to run a derby with my pup, and get to the Senior/HR level. Not sure if I'll even get there, much less beyond, but its fun to have goals. I'm still mad at myself that my last dog passed away 1 test short of his senior hunter akc title.

All these posts make me feeling like I should have done more with the pup this off season.

All we've really did is regular religious exercise. I'm fortunate to live next to land with similar terrain that we hunt and running into wild birds (mostly quail) are common. He's been holding point really good lately and is ready to get after it soon now! Taking him out for a trap shoot with guns a couple of days ago has really helped to let him know we are getting close to real action.
