I currently have a SilencerCo scythe TI and I’m debating on switching over to the Otter creek lab polonium 30. Part of the switch is my lack of confidence with the scythe.
Will mirage be less with switching to a stainless can? On 5ish round shot strings.
This will be for a 20” 300wsm

Yes, stainless steel suppressors have lower thermal conductivity and greater mass compared to titanium. This allows them to absorb and spread heat more slowly, making them more resistant to heat mirage during extended firing. With that being said, once they do reach temperature, they also take longer to cool down.

Honestly I’d rather buy an LS wild suppressor cover to manage mirage before buying an entirely different can. OCL is a great MFG though, can’t go wrong with picking one up.

hunting in the main reason for wanting to shoot suppressed. But I like shooting suppressed at the range too.
Do you use a cover?

But yes, a 14+ ounce steel can is going to heat up slower than an 8 ounce Ti can.
