World war don't start overnight, there are always smaller events which when not controlled lead to bigger conflicts involving more and more countries. Germany first invaded Poland in 1939, but the USA did not get directly involved until Germany declared war on the USA in1941 after the USA declared war on Japan. World events easily get out of control until we have war. WW 3 has already started, lets hope cooler head prevail.

If the Russians were able to successfully overtake Ukraine they would be in for decades of rebuilding

For us it's an exhibition for low stakes. For Russia it's now about saving face. Nukes would ruin all that fun, and no one's serious enough to go there. The real question is who's better at manufacturing crises and stoking fears: politicians or the media??

The Soviet Union did this to us in Vietnam. We did it to them in Afghanistan. Wash, rinse, repeat. I worry more about China.

You are right, re-read the article and it was closer to 2/3 of Republicans surveyed in a poll conducted in 7/22. It was only 1 in 5 Republicans who believed Biden won fair and square. We are in more trouble than I realized. ;-)
