The bolded has been my headache with a factory tikka 24.3" CTR barrel.
A week ago I had the following load and info:
-140 hybrids
-2x fired Lapua LRP
-42.0 H4350
-Fed 210M primers
-Seated somewhere over 2.9" (dont recall actual)
With a scythe can and temps in the 50s, this got me an avg of 2716 FPS which is basically gnats ass the min needed for power factor.
So I did what many would, added 0.2 grains of powder to get some buffer. Only other difference was I swapped out the Scythe for a nomad xc and temps were maybe 20 degrees cooler. So next load @ 42.2 gr H4350 i got 2690 FPS avg. 10+ shots just like prior load.
Shooting a match this weekend. I'm going to load up some 144s and if I get the warm and fuzzies I'll shoot those. Im going to bring a case of Norma 130 gr factory ammo just in case the 144 load is acting up.
This has been my only gripe with the factory tikka barrel, more challenging to get power factor without leaning on it a bit.
