Anybody loading Berger 140 hybrids and H4350 for NRL Hunter? If so can you share you load data and speeds. I'm going to explore this load. Just want to see what is working for others.

Currently have
- Lapua SRP brass
- BR4 primers
- h4350
- Berger Hybrid Target 140gr

Thanks!

Not for nrl but I went through barrels of 41.5 of h4350 and a 140. Can’t tell you the velocity off the top of my head.

If you can’t make power factor at sane pressure the 144 Berger is also a good bullet and behaves much like the 140 hybrid.

My chamber has a long forcing cone similar to +P.

My load is 43 grains H4350 in Peterson brass with 140 RDF at 2850.

41-42.5 grains of H4350 will get you in the money with a standard chamber and a 140.

The bolded has been my headache with a factory tikka 24.3" CTR barrel.

A week ago I had the following load and info:
-140 hybrids
-2x fired Lapua LRP
-42.0 H4350
-Fed 210M primers
-Seated somewhere over 2.9" (dont recall actual)

With a scythe can and temps in the 50s, this got me an avg of 2716 FPS which is basically gnats ass the min needed for power factor.

So I did what many would, added 0.2 grains of powder to get some buffer. Only other difference was I swapped out the Scythe for a nomad xc and temps were maybe 20 degrees cooler. So next load @ 42.2 gr H4350 i got 2690 FPS avg. 10+ shots just like prior load.

Shooting a match this weekend. I'm going to load up some 144s and if I get the warm and fuzzies I'll shoot those. Im going to bring a case of Norma 130 gr factory ammo just in case the 144 load is acting up.

This has been my only gripe with the factory tikka barrel, more challenging to get power factor without leaning on it a bit.

My buddy that I plan to shoot teams with this summer is having similar issues. I'm shooting a proof barrel. Hopefully I can get some testing in this weekend. Will post results!

Tikka factory ctr 24"

About to load a bunch of these...
Circa ~2017 factory prime brass (which I think is norma)
140 hybrids
Cci 200
43.4 gr h4350 (also ~2017)
2780 fps

Same load with fed 210 primers was 2800. Ran that at the last 2 NRL matches.

It's more powder than I see anyone else run. But ive never seen a pressure sign with that load I don't think. Maybe like 1 stiff bolt lift mid match one time.

I don't know if its the brass or the old powder or what. Not a ton of people with that brass.

Those tikka factory 6.5 barrels are surely slow.

I shot berger factory at my last nrl match. It didn’t even make power factor. 140s were supposed to be 2842 on the box, 2670 out of a 23.x” tikka

My Lapua brass started life as berger factory 140 Hybrid ammo. Same deal, 2670-2680ish MV.

Additional reference points:

Tikka T3X CTR 6.5 Creedmoor 20" bbl.
Horn brass
Fed 210M Primer
42.4 gr H4350

Horn 140 ELDM
MV = 2617 FPS

Berger 140 Hybrid
MV = 2631 FPS

A few select people have had good results with 41.5 H4350 and 140 class bullets

Looks like you will make power factor easily. When I used to shoot 140's I always always around 2750 which makes it by 30 FPS but it always worried me that you could be shooting slower for some reason one day and be on the edge. The easy way to make power factor and not have to step on pressure is usually a heavier bullet - 147 eldm, 153 a-tip, 153,5 berger, 156 berger.
