Now that season is over..What are you doing to prepare for next season

Oh yeah, moving some stands while it is cool, slithery ones are still not very active, not 90-95 and 100% humidity.

Working on shooting houses.

Summer plots.

Shooting the bolt .22 and main gun(s) from different positions every couple weeks. Shooting technique, if performed properly, needs to be practices, much like cranking the boat motor(s), lawn mower and weed eater every couple weeks to keep the battery charged and things in check.

Shooting self-thrown trap.

Running a few mags through the cc. every couple weeks while out with the long guns.

Killing a few hogs for fun --- dog gone can't eradicate them.

Putting in some clover to a couple food plots that need some love, hopefully to come up for turkey season.
Supplemental feeding till Turkey season comes in. My uncle has picked up 4, 450 lb gravity feeders to help rotate some of the older feeders out of commission.

Trying to find a 6-9 foot roller crimper in GA or AL to go more green prior to summer food plot planting. Having a hard time finding one. Can order one for $5k, but shipping is near $10k from what I've seen.

Plowing a lot of snow!
Including plowing out to a couple of targets. Lots of shooting. Talking with the farmer that leases my land to help him to decide to plant soybeans.

I have been doing side hustles to fund my new rifle setups. I need to start shifting more of my time into getting in shape. Thankfully spring turkey and bear season will be here before I know it.

We just bought 10 acres. Took soil samples, planted 70 screening trees/bushes and 13 fruit/nut trees. Have more to go.

Set up ibc totes and drip tubing for irrigation, timers wouldn’t work but found others that should.

Hurricane dropped our big trees end of Sept. Lots more to go, little by little.

I'm about to start some serious brass prep on 4 rifles, 200 rounds of 1x and 2x fired brass plus 200 rounds of new brass.

I'll be developing a load of 140 hybrids in my 6.5 creed for a long range trainer and working on the 6 Dasher which has been sitting in the safe for a couple years with about 100 rounds on it. Brass prep on a 338 Edge and do a little fine tuning load work on it. Prep of 7PRC which is on order expected late spring.

Getting my rear end back in the gym in hopes of drawing a tag and it's just good for me.

On my home lease I'm replacing an 15 year old winch up feeder with a 600 pound stand and fill. Happy days, last winch up.

All when time allows between family commitments and spring cleaning.

Listening to some new podcasts on my drive to and from work. Acquiring some reading material in hopes to become more whitetail/archery educated. Spending some more time in the woods this spring and summer as well.

Moving some hang on's and adding a couple brushed-in ground blinds at strategic field corners. Fields will be corn this season.
Also adding some very small plots along a stream that runs through some thick big timber. Just big enough to get them to stop in varying wind directions.

Saturday I secured permission to bow hunt some private property adjacent to a wilderness area. Looking forward to a few bow hunts in a cool place.

Dad and I have to grab 8 or 9 stands and steps and replace straps and overall do a wellness check on a piece of private we have permission on.

I need to work on getting some permission locked up out of state near where we have a house/hunting shack.

Work on building an elevated box blind on a trailer for my dads property. Be nice for him to pull into place on his property depending on how the deer are using it for shotgun and MZ season. Probably build it 8ft to the bottom off the ground. 5ft x 5ft maybe windows, roof the whole 9 yards.

Other than that for whitetail season there aint a whole lot imo. I mostly hunt them because Im in MN and they are here when Im not out of state hunting a real animal.

Shooting as much as possible, took scope off 30-30 and sighted in new Skinner peep, loading test rounds for new 308 that will be here soon. Great time to scout, been suprised to still see active scrapes.

Already gearing up for next season! Maintaining food plots, scouting new areas, and tweaking stand setups to stay one step ahead.

Will take down stands that didn’t get used - loosen up straps on stands that will stay put. See if landowners have any projects they want done (how I get/keep permission).

If I could do land improvements I would (free permission land not owned/leased).

I will keep the coyote population as close to zero as possible through June, when vegetation gets too high. Hoping to increase fawn numbers, because the population is too low currently.

Patiently wait for cool late October days!
