Hey Guys & Gals!
Long time lurker with a *Community Update* of a scam going on in our archery community (I hope this is ok mods, please pm me if needed)
I am the marketing liaison for a family owned local Denver Archery Range & Pro Shop – Bear Creek Archery. We're a legitimate business that's been around for decades, you can look us up and give us a call, and if you've been in our area hopefully you stopped by the shop! Now for the sad news – We just found out that there is an online archery "store" that is listing bows and accessories at discounted prices, too good to be true – and using our shop address as if they were us. The site is "archeryprosupplies.com" and I am not linking it to not drive more traffic to them (screenshot attached). Very unfortunate, we had a customer come in to us thinking we could help them with this site – and we have nothing to do with them aside from seemingly being targeted by them.
Please note the site "archeryprosupplies.com" is entirely a fraudulent storefront unfortunately (we've checked with a couple bow manufactures we work with and they do not have accounts for this 'company') – You'll note their logo is a ripoff of Lancaster, they went so far as to create a Google Maps listing trying to pretend to be Bear Creek Archery with our address (which we have gotten somewhat removed), and we are working with local authorities, Google, anyone we can. With the domain name and hosting being registered in Europe it's hard to get legal action... the phone number seemingly goes to (from the best we can find) a woman that passed away over a year ago, and the photos on their site of a storefront are actually from "Mitch's Archery" in Georgia (thanks Google reverse image search). We contacted Mitch, he said he was also aware of the site and unfortunately, there isn't much we can do! Please, if anyone you know is looking to buy from that site, let them know it is a fraudulent site! Spread the word as I am trying to do, as we don't want to see anyone else hurt (and of course, really sad this is hurting our local shop too).
I just wanted to post here and a couple other forums, to let the community know and hopefully help ensure nobody else gets scammed. In my 25 years of marketing for companies, I have never come across this elaborate of a setup targeting such a small niche community and local business to boot. I am happy to submit verification to mods as well - thanks for your ears, and please support your local legitimate businesses in our community!
