Not ugly self timing muzzle brake?

Thinking about this further, why doesn’t anybody make a self timing brake that can also be turned down to match barrel contour? Doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to make the collar match, but I’m not a machinist. Is there a functional reason why this can’t be done?
