I’ve got a Bowtech Realm X in need of a decent tune and was wondering if anybody has recommendations for shops in the Tomball area. Seems like most places are 45 minutes to an hour away.

Have been to Live Oak in College Station and West Houston Archery previously but both are a pretty far drive for me.

West Houston Archery IMHO is arguably the premier archery shop in HTX, it's certainly worth the drive from a former Tomball resident

I’ve been happy with them every time I’ve gone. Just losing the desire to fight with that traffic to make the trip

My best time to go was on a Saturday after getting off work at 12-1ish. Show up, have them work on the bow, shoot around, shoot the breeze, take a dump, and be out by 4ish. 45 min tops unless 610 is backed up to get back to 249/Spring Cypress. If not then, Tuesday and Thursdays were always super light, and if you drop it off Thursday, pick up Saturday it’s even easier.

I thought it’s better if you’re shooting it yourself when tuning?

I’m thinking my issue is poor tuning but admittedly I’m not as proficient with working in my bows as I’d like to be. My rest has to be shifted all the way to the side in order to be on target. Shot great with QAD Exodus but with the Bishops it’s having major issues staying with the field tips. Especially shooting bare shaft. Bare shaft with the Bishops it’s way way off.

oh well for sure, if you need it tuned then do it with someone there who’s got experience. But if you need it restrung or something longer then leave it.

I’m no expert but bare shaft shooting broadheads is a recipe for issues with tuning.

Prior to switching broadheads did you have to adjust the rest while shooting the QAD’s? if you’re shooting field points/QAD, were you able to shoot tight groups repeatedly? Bishops are different than QAD’s, but it should just be a minor rest adjustment to go from grouping one to the other. Arrow is aligned with the center of the string, and the rest is generally center-shot? All other things being equal, the Intro of the bishops seem to be the problem.

anyone else with more experience please chime in

The rest was all the way maxed out when shooting the QAD’s. They still shot with my field points out to 60 yards without issue and grouped fantastic. With the rest being maxed out, I’m unable to move it where it needs to go for the Bishops. I could rezero my sight with broadheads and cover up the problem but I’d like to get it resolved.

One thing to note is the QAD were 125’s and the bishops are 150’s, but based on what I’ve seen from Easton my spine should be fine for them.

Take it to West Houston for a tune.

Ive watched Spring Archery/Texas archery jack up two bows now, doing simple things.

The guys at both shops are good people, but that doesn't mean they are good techs.

Go see Rick at West Houston. If you just need a press, more than welcome to help yourself to mine. Just south of Spring for me.

I appreciate the offer. I’m not familiar enough with the tuning process to tune it myself, so I’ll end up bringing it in
