It's a really simple formula. You want more deer quit shooting their mothers.

Yep . Taking rifle season out of the rut would be nice toIt's a really simple formula. You want more deer quit shooting their mothers.

It does it makes deer way more visible and way easier to kill.Hunting the rut has zero to do with it. They need to quit shooting does.

For sure, from my experience it's way easier to shoot does when they are being mountedIt does it makes deer way more visible and way easier to kill.
The bucks are pushing them into the open people just dont want to give up the rut hunt as thats how 90% of the big deer are shotFor sure, from my experience it's way easier to shoot does when they are being mounted
I was being sarcastic but yes absolutelyThe bucks are pushing them into the open people just dont want to give up the rut hunt as thats how 90% of the big deer are shot
Maybe just timing but it seemed like there was a lot more moisture out there when there were a ton of deer.We haven't had years of drought. Only one really dry year recently.

I'd worry more about the Governor soliciting the rest of the country to move here. The Ellsworth population expansion isn't really that big. Especially when you consider a large portion of that population consists of spouses and children under hunting ages. Rifle tags are already capped, an even smaller percentage of people archery hunt (let alone archery hunt competently).Wonder what the expansion of Elsworth is gonna do to all this.

We have had 5 new familys move here in the last year. Longest made it 6 months. Winter is a great equalizer for keeping people out especially when the wind blows 30 mph a week straight in JanuaryI'd worry more about the Governor soliciting the rest of the country to move here. That's fairly accurate, but the 4,000 increase over the current population will not be reached until 2040. That number is also inflated for an over-estimate to account for family members.ETA: Articles online seem to say 4000 people total increase.
I will sadly say those days are pretty much over in ND. The electronic posting of lands has ruined hunting in ND.North Dakota is so easy to get permission on Private ground for archery hunting. Go knock on 10 doors get 3 yesses, bring them back a case of beer and they will talk to their neighbors who in turn will normally also allow you to hunt. Just common courtesy and a smile go a long way in ND!
