The above posters are correct, it's a cup and core bullet with a "mechanical lock". Below is the reply I received from Norma when I asked the same question:

Hello,

Per our product specialist, it is a cup and core bullet with a mechanical lock.

Thank you,

I scooped up five boxes of 270 Win ammo when I found it, but haven't shot it yet.

I just bought five boxes of 7mm-08 at $40 a box with free shipping. Cheapest ammo I’ve seen lately so I thought I’d give it a try.

This ammo shoots sub MOA out of my 30-06. I have shot two mule deer this year with it. Both shots were through and through, exiting the offside shoulder.

I ordered 4 boxes of the .30-06 last week. I’ll see how it groups soon enough. For the price, Norma’s reputation and considering availability, so far it seems to be a solid win. I hope they do more calibers.

I bought two boxes of 300 WM for a Christmas present. At the very least it will be good brass for handloads.

Out of my cheap Savage .270 I was getting about 1/2 in groups at 100 yrds using the 130 gr soft points. I killed a doe last week. The shot was about 50 yards. I hit just in front of the shoulder and it exited hitting the front of the opposite shoulder. Exit hole was about the size of a small Red Bull can. I didn't know it but the deer ran about 40 yards and laid down. It was thick and I wasn't sure about the hit so I followed it right away. It jumped up and ran about another 40 yards up a hill. The next shot hit the neck about 4 inches below the head and exited though it's face. Took the whole side of it's face off. With hind sight I could have just waited a few minutes and it would have died without the second shot. The expansion looks really good and I was impressed. I would buy these again. Wish the price was a little better but you can't be too particular right now.

season summary on west Texas deer hunting with a .308 150gr Norma
it’s accurate out of my rem 788
1. mule deer buck shoulder shot 275-300 meters DRT ( slightly more damage then I like on meat)
2 . 3 white tail does, these shots I would pick and choose very carfully , as I had huge meat damage when neck shot wasn’t taken
i tried to test on a aoudad ram but didn’t shoot because he was unretievable out on a cliff

so I would think the jury is still out on if they’re good for large game like elk
anyone use core bond bullets or barns TTSX 130- 165 or accubond

Academy has tons of this on the shelf in .308, 30-06, and 300 Win Mag.

I saw a little in 7mm Mag and 7mm-08 also

I need 6.5 CM and of course they're out.
Watch out @ academy they are mixing the Norma soft point ammo with the whitetaile !
the soft points are Oryx bullets and are also loaded faster
the white tail are unbonded cup and core
the boxes are very similar 5E7159A5-DA5A-4DFD-9AC8-6AD24DA415F8.jpegE4D1FB7C-35FE-4660-9339-3F18734AFEED.png

Any of you guys that bought these last year have any more kills under your belt with them? I just bought 5 boxes of 7-08, mostly for the brass but may try to shoot something with them if I decide to take that rifle this year. At $25 a box and the accuracy reviews being pretty great across the board, I figured I couldn't go wrong.

I see nothing online that the 150s are Oryx that aren’t Whitetail labeled. Can you provide details?
