Or the ascent as nicaburns suggested. That 3x on the low end you’re gonna want I think. Great scope.

Where are you at in AZ? Feel free to PM. I’d happily show you some scope options and we can work through shooting your specific gun and load out to 300 and beyond.Thanks! Yea...so the weight is partly because I have this damn Mammoth challenge in the back of my mind and weight = pain is in my mind, but honestly this isn't the gun for that match and I'm not man enough to do that challenge anyway....so maybe it's really not that big of a deal.
As for 300 yards, well I've just been reading it's probably not the most ethical to take shots much further than that, but I'm sure that might just be bullcrap.
But there you have it...my 2 reasons for those.
@Nicaburns , I think I found out why you mentioned the Ascent...looks like it's 5oz lighter...(price is nice too!)
Wait for an SWFA 6x42 to pop up in the classifieds here.
@mxgsfmdpx Northwest Valley, specifically Glendale.Where are you at in AZ? Feel free to PM. I’d happily show you some scope options and we can work through shooting your specific gun and load out to 300 and beyond.
Thanks @sz28 ....I've done some F-Class matches at Ben Avery out to 600 and felt pretty good on my rem 700 308 with a 5x25 PST gen 2, so I think I would be comfortable stretching my hunting legs a little on the 7 PRC...but I think I'll work that up slowly, starting <300.I really respect you limiting yourself to 300yds in AZ, but I would work on getting comfortable at double that distance. It's not that anyone necessarily needs to shoot that far, but you'll definitely be presented with the option for more 3-600 yard shots in my limited experience.
Reticle is far more important than magnification especially on big bodied elk.I guess I should ask...what would one call the minimum mag for an elk shot at 600?
Oh you should be good for 600 with a 12 power, for me I would say 10 power is about what I would prefer for a 600yd shot, I know others would say even less is needed.Thanks @sz28 ....I've done some F-Class matches at Ben Avery out to 600 and felt pretty good on my rem 700 308 with a 5x25 PST gen 2, so I think I would be comfortable stretching my hunting legs a little on the 7 PRC...but I think I'll work that up slowly, starting <300.

I would definitely take up mxgsfmdpx offer too. I don't know him personally but from what I've seen here on the forum he seems like an experienced AZ hunter and I would jump at the opportunity.Thanks again.
So I think I've narrowed it down to the SWFA 6x, and either Credo 2-10 or Ascent 3-12. I'm gonna swing by Cabela's or Scheels to actually look through them and build an opinion....
Thanks @sz28 .... depending on where he is at (hopefully not Tucson ), I'm good to meet up at Ben Avery or somewhere. I don't think I have PM authority yet, so I'll have to wait for him to respond on here @mxgsfmdpxI would definitely take up mxgsfmdpx offer too. I’ll message you once your post counts are up. I’m halfway between Phoenix and Tucson in the middle of nowhere.Thanks @sz28 .... depending on where he is at (hopefully not Tucson ), I'm good to meet up at Ben Avery or somewhere. Well high enough to post on classifieds, but I still need to wait a week ...Thats ok though...still trying to figure out what I want.What’s your post count now??
Haha, this money is already burning a hole in my pocket...I would really probably just take the cheap way out with the SWFA 6x, but cant find one...hahaThat’s the fun part of you have the money set aside to spend, enjoy the process
