No love for the kelvin lite series?

I've been reading up a lot on puffys lately and have been able to try a couple on in store (uncompahgre and kelvin lite). I've found tons of info on the FL puffy and Sitka kelvin jacket, but not many opinions on the kelvin lite jacket.

What gives?

Is it not worth raving about compared to what you can get for 75 bucks more with the uncompahgre?

I'm looking into gear for a first CO archery elk hunt. Already have a merino base, wind proof vest, attack pants, and contemplating using my scent lok (more because it's a lighter fleece than scent control) full season jacket.

I love my k light vest. Wear it all the time, it is much lighter than its bigger brother

Love the jacket. My go to layer piece for sleep and early mornings

The kelvin lite has been a great jacket so far. Very warm for the amount of insulation it has. It replaced my fleece routine for early season hunts. Warmer and lighter than the fleece I was using.

I have the uncompahgre as well. Got it a few months ago. Been wearing it all winter up here. Warmer than the kelvin lite, but of course it has more insulation and is heavier.

I love my kelvin lite as well. Much warmer than I thought it would be and in fact find myself getting too warm and breaking a sweat if I am a little too active. Sometimes I put it on to glass and figure I don't need to take it off to go over to the next ridge when I really should. Perfect for wearing around camp and even sleeping in when it gets a little colder than normal. Great jacket and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I tested out my merino and windproof vest yesterday while turkey scouting. 15-20 mph winds @37 degrees and sunny and when I stopped for a minute, I got chilled. Didn't bring the fleece out but I'd definitely need it or a puffy in temps and wind like that.

FL puffy sounds nice but extremely warm and overkill for camp-based hunting that I'm planning on doing. Plus, I already have a windproof vest and fleece. The Kelvin lite jacket seems like a good jacket but not very durable.

I guess I'll just have to wear them around the store for a half hour or so and make up my mind.

Mine are the original Kelvins...haven't looked at the light yet. If the original gets too warm I just unzip it.

The Lite is great stuff. Significantly lighter and more packable and still warm as hell. I only wear the full Kelvin when it's really cold.

Man i really wish they would've made the kelvin down ultralight jacket in a hooded version.

Also on the kelvin lite hoody it says it uses 80 G/M and 100 G/M fill. I wonder how they've mapped the insulation in what areas? couldn't find any info on it.

Not sure why i was tagged in this. The two jackets i mentioned were

1.Kelvin down ultralight jacket 10.6 oz (wish they made a hooded version) http://www.sitkagear.com/products/big-game/new/kelvin-down-ultralight-jacket

2. Kelvin Lite Hoody, 16.9 oz http://www.sitkagear.com/products/big-game/new/kelvin-lite-hoody

The jacket in the video is the Kelvin Down Hoodie at 27.2oz which is far to heavy for my interests.

mtnclimber. I've been testing a prototype of the Kelvin Down Ultralight for a few months now. I see you are in Anchorage. Your welcome to check it out in person if you are curious about it. I hope to wrap up a quick review on it here shortly.

I've got a Kelvin Lite vest, it's a really nice piece to add with minimal weight penalties if you just want to have that extra core warmth.

im looking at the kelvin lite jacket for my insulation layer on backpack hunts in september here in oregon. it can dip into the 30's in the mornings and evenings but never gets frigid. Figure the kelvin lite will fit the bill perfectly.
