I believe it is,, afa all the blow downs,,,one report said the trees were piled up 4’ high ,,,, all from the windstorem,,,, just looking for a little more info,,,,, ???

It's a mess for sure. Places that I normally hunt in the past were overcrowded. There are pockets of timber that are open within the blowdown. That's where the elk are. I hunted the southern part of the unit and I'd say 70-80% of it was affected. There were places the entire hillside was on the ground. There were a LOT of pissed off bikers because they couldn't ride the trails... I don't think most people understand what a 115 mph wind event does to steep terrain. I talked to a few guys that hunted the Northern part and they said the elk were in places they couldn't get to, whether that was a lack of effort or reality, I don't know.

Heck, that doesn’t look bad at all compared to some of the stuff I have hunted in the San Pedro wilderness in the Jemez. The thick blowdown stuff is some of my favorite stuff to hunt. Congrats on the bull!

we got our ass handed to us, not 1 elk spotted, we hunted several spots, hunted the snow days too,, up near midnight all over, lots of 4 wheelers an heater hunters ,, we got past that but could not get it done, saw 8 muleys 4/4....
hunted the base of flag mt two mornings,, one day had it to ourself, the next 4 -5 trucks,, kills me why peeps will not stop an walk in,,, smdh,,, I left it all on the mountain,, theres plenty there to hunt too,,
