Sorry for the let down but it seems service isn't as good as I thought it would be. I just figured with a bunch of cell towers a few miles away I would have data for sure. So instead of a live hunt I'll post updates as I can.
Yes it's an archery hunt.
I arrived at my camp spot pretty late Wednesday night and set up the Cimarron on the most level least rocky place I could find. There were so many rocks and mesquite I couldn't get two of the tent stakes to stick so instead of fighting it any more I just called it good, at up the cot and went to bed. The next morning the stakes went in easy! It's crazy how some things are so much harder in the dark when tired.
Yesterday I took 3 gallons of water, shelter, bivy, and tripod to the top and stashed them in some rocks. Did a little glassing while there and found a group of bullies and nannies about a mile south of me. There were 4 or 5 that I'd sling an arrow at if given a shot. One nice white Billy with good curve stood out alive the others.
No good pics of them since I didn't even bring a spotter.
After glassing a little more I made my way back to the truck a little over a mile away and 2000 feet down. As it got dark I got to watch a great lightning show all across the western sky as a big storm headed my way. It sprinkled off and on for a couple hours and let loose just when I feel asleep. Laying there in the tent while it rained like crazy I got to wondering how much water was running under my bed. Turning on the headlamp confirmed a sheet of water under the cot and across most of the tent. There was nothing I could do so I just laid there while the rain and wind beat the heck out of the tent sides.
