In theory, we will be done when Scheffler shows up...:) Then Sheffler can have all the shots he wants!

Haven't been to the store yet, but I'm thinking some Bird Dog or Fireball, and likely a liter of cab. I'm hoping to make it to where we camped last time by late Monday afternoon/early evening. No more bulky tarp over the hammock (Yep, Justin, I don't leave home without it anymore), so I've got some extra room and weight to carry up the good stuff. Even with brats, eggs, hashbrowns and sausages for dinner/breakfast last weekend I had my 3 day pack (no hunting gear) down to 21 lbs. But you can add 10 lbs to that just by switching to my bigger pack and adding the rifle.

Dang Scheff,
Sounds like you'll be eating like a king! I'm just happy to have some coffee in the morning and some fruit snacks for a treat!

I'm pretty sure that if I took you on a hunt, you would be cured of taking whiskey.

I don't hardly drink at all during hunting season. To me it's like drinking before game day. I want to perform at peak levels and whiskey won't help that.

|Your pack weight is fine brother. You could cut some but who cares? If you can carry it comfortably then don't worry. I was around 52 lbs for 5 days in the Cascades. I went up the hill like a raped ape didn't even lose my breath on a 3000ft ascent following my buddy. I don't need a 35 lb pack if I can carry a 55 lber like some people carry a 35 lber.

Just weighed my pack with all my stuff except water for an eight day hunt. 40.5 pounds. That is on a bathroom scale. Don't have access to a professional scale right now. Should be about 45 or so with water. Was pretty happy with that. Branden

Just curious what your pack list is including food. That weight including weapon?

Mate, don't get too caught up in the ultra light bs, people cutting of strapping on packs only to then stuff their packs with 'pop tarts' and rain gear is madness. Rain gear is a real cracker, fact is, YOU are going to get wet and be uncomfortable if it rains, plus side is you can get some sort of comfort back at camp.

If you are keen on getting lighter, ditch all the superfluous food items and rain gear, they are just not needed.

Have a good trip, look fwd to reading about the adventure, most important part, enjoy yourself.

I agree. I leave Saturday for a 7 day backpack mule deer hunt. Been doing it for years. I've learned to take what I need, but keep it simple. I have never weighed my pack, I really don't want to know. It doesn't matter to me, if it feels ok on my back, than that's good enough for me. Just my opinion.

I'm driving right now so won't be able to post my list until I get back. Yes gun, bullets, etc.
