Nikon FX 1000?

I like it on my 6.5 prc. Mine is illuminated. I did use the illuminated reticle when sighting in at an indoor range but never felt the need for illumination when hunting even at dusk & dawn. I prob didn’t even need it sighting in but it was a fun feature to play with.

the illuminated reticle on this scope saved my ass last month. i left my rifle (and scope of course) in the blind overnite in below zero temps. everything (scope, binos, range finder) was frozen over in the morning. the center of the scope was still fuzzy but with the illum reticle i was able to center the scope where i wanted it and got my first elk!

The scope line has excellent optics. I love the MRAD reticle. I never feel the need to dial since I already have what I need (range finding, wind & distance doping) through the scope. Unfortunately, it's a bit heavy & prob won't hold value given Nikon's exit from hunting and place of manufacture.

Do you feel the reticle is bold enough at the lowest magnification to see clearly without illumination at dusk and dawn?

Thank You!

I do. However, there is more to the equation than just available light and the size of the reticle. It is definitely more difficult to see the reticle when peering into the dark with the setting sun behind me. Hence, when taking a shot in those instances, I do dial up the magnification but keeping the exit pupil around 6 (8x for this scope). I have found that my eyes really can’t tell more detail or appreciate more brightness with a larger exit pupil. In other words, between 4x and 8x, I don’t see any darkening of the visual field- but the reticle is much more visible.
