Getting ready to glass my Savage 10FCP HS & came across this deal.

Nikon Sale

I'm still debating if I should keep it simple & go with the 4-16 non illuminated reticle or go all out with the illuminated 6-24. Seems like there's only an ounce difference in weight.

What cartridge is your rifle chambered in, and what is the purpose of the rifle?

On a hunting rifle, I would go 4-16 due to shots in the timber being possible where I hunt. 6X is a little high sometimes in the woods. For a varmint and bench gun, 6-24.

I bought one for my savage 110 in 6.5 and love it. The free Nikon spot on ballistic app is a great perk as well. I went with the 4-16 non illuminated and have no regrets. Just got back from a Montana deer hunt and it performed great. Shot a fox at 386 and a buck at 450 using the bdc reticle paired with spot on drop calculator and factory 140gr core lokt. Haven’t tried dialing yet so can’t comment on that aspect but hope to work on that in the offseason.

It's chambered in 308 win.

I'm planning on taking it target shooting as my main use@ 1,000 yards. Maybe use it for hunting if I can find a place where I can shoot long distances. The gun will weight around 11 lbs fully set up so I doubt I'd want to walk with it very far.

I may want to swap it onto a hunting rifle later on if I ever upgrade to a nicer long range scope, but most likely use it for open terrain so a 4x or 6x should work. I have plenty of other rifle/scope combos that I can use in timber so it's not that limiting of a factor.

Yea, that scope seems the most sensible. I'm more likely to never use the illuminated reticle, it's more for a "what-if" scenario that may never happen.
