Nightforce shv 3-10 zero stop

I recently bought a Kimber Mt ascent because I wanted to try a light weight rifle for backpack hunting. My plan was to use a NXS 2.5-10 that I already owned. I wanted to keep weight down and have an optic that reliably held zero. I decided I didn’t like the exposed windage turret so I ordered a shv with the moar reticle. After sighting it in I machined a zero stop for it. Now I can hold over using the reticle or dial for elevation. It’s a pretty nice setup for a simple durable optic that’s 20oz. Just thought I would throw this out there in case anybody else was looking for a similar setup but didn’t want the shv because of the lack of a zero
stop. It’s basically a spacer that goes under the elevation dial and stops it from rotating at the correct position.

I considered hand making one with some plastic tubing, but yours is way nicer. How would you adjust for the different revolution levels possible? Just file it down until correct I guess?

Sighted rifle in then measured distance between elevation knob and scope body then made spacer to fit. I made mine a few thousandths short so I can dial 1 moa below zero if needed. It’s not a perfect system as it requires a different height spacer if you change ammo etc.

I think if you had a little kit that had a thick, medium, and then a small number of thin spacers it would allow users to adjust the zero stop "good enough" and would sell to SHV owners.

Ya. Like the shims that came with the early vortex pst scopes.

I don't even think they need to be metal. Maybe some machined Delrin or something. I don't even need it to be exactly on zero. I just want it to stop on the main revolution and then I can clearly see I need to dial back up to that zero on that rev. So this is why some shims is good enough and I can change ammo, etc. and just swap the shims around. Just an idea. Not sure how much money is in it vs. the hassle though.

That’s why I made the spacer for mine. With only 10 moa per rev it’s easy to get lost dialing for longer shots.

A good while back a friend 3d printed several for me. I zero, then sand them to fit. It's not perfect, but it's functional.

I have one 3-10 already and may be grabbing another for a kimber I just bought. If you do end up selling them I may grab a couple. That’s a nice setup.

The adjustable type(the shims being mentioned) would interest me as well.

It would suck getting one of these machined only to decide later I want to switch bullets(or due to component shortage, etc). Having the option to add or subtract shims as needed you would probably sell quite a few(me included).

Several people have suggested shims. The problem I found was the thread pitch on the shv works out to .010 spacer height = 1 complete revolution on the turret 10 moa. Shims would have to be extremely thin to allow precision adjustments on turret.
