Nightforce shv 3-10 42 ??

Yep, and that's exactly what got replaced by a SWFA because it was in MOA and I could have 2+ SWFAs instead and didn't feel like was really losing much.
With the SWFA 3-9 , the lack of parallax never as issue for me reaching out. Have not had issues with SHV either but have not gone as far. With 9x and 10x I can’t notice.

What’s it set at in that scope ?

Depends what "higher end" gets you. I've had "higher end" scopes on full customs that now wear SWFA 3-9s or LRTS. Don't feel under scoped.
Yup I'm right there with ya!! Same thing. Have gone from several $2K+ scopes on those rifle and have since been fine with the $600-$700 models above and haven't looked back.

I have thousands of rounds on a dozen platforms using an SHV 3-10 parallax adjustable on illuminated scope. It has fallen off a couple 4 wheelers and bounced around a ton on dirt roads.

I don’t love the scope (poor turrets, moderate optical quality, mediocre reticle), so it never gets a permanent home on; however, I trust it implicitly. I use it as my test rig. If something is not performing, I know it’s not the scope. It gets dialed a ton, and generally mis-treated.

Not the best scope for long range, nor for a dedicated short range gun, but I like it for what I use it for.

That’s what I am looking for .... a scope that does what it is intended to do ... nothing crazy but nothing shitty .... just a solid little scope

Honestly, if you’re buying this scope to dial extensively there are probably better choices. It lacks a zero stop and the clicks are not overly robust. I haven’t had a problem, but I wouldn’t put it on a prs style rifle either.

I've had 2. Id say the only thing that rivals it in reliability in the sub 1000 price range are the swfas.i havent had an issue with out parallax adj. From what I researched i want to say it was not much of an issue with scopes in that mag range. Im sure an optics guru with tell me im wrong but I've had no problems ringing steel to 900 and taking game past 600. The eye box is fantastic for me. Great in the timber and extremely easy to get behind when prone. 12x is all I want in a hunting scope. Glass is plenty fine for hunting imo. I've whipped the shit out of mine and never lost zero. Can't say the same for the vortex and leupys I've run in the past.

It’s a 6lb hunting rifle, I think it would work well for my needs (won’t be dialing a lot I just want to have the option if needed)

Which shv do you have ?

It is perfect for that application and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. Carry scope with the option to dial on occasion. I would probably opt for the illuminated reticle over the parallax adjustment.

Parallax won’t be an issue out to 500 yards I hope ..... I guess I’ll find out if I get this scope tho, thanks !

Parallax is a non issue if you are shooting near where the factory set the parallax (200 yards on this scope if I recall correctly). Still pay attention to a consistent head position. This is a fairly low power scope with a small objective lens. Both of these greatly improve the parallax problem.

It’s 125m .... I used a parallax calculator and found that at 500 yards it should have 2.5 inches of maximum possible parallax ..... so I don’t think it would be an issue at all rly
