Has anyone used this scope ? I see that it has a fixed parallax at 125 m.... I want to put it on a proof elevation rifle that I will use for hunting and shoot out to 500 yards with it ... how do you guys like the scope and would it work for this application ?

It would be fine. There are two models. One with fixed parallax and one with adjustable parallax. Adjustable parallax doesn’t have the illuminated reticle. One is the current version and the other is deprecated. I can’t remember which. Point is, if you must have adjustable parallax, a version exists.

The SHV line has the same glass as the NXS line, just less features and less rigorous testing before they go out. They are great scopes. I have two. One lives on a Knight Ultralight muzzleloader. Recoil is stout. Round count is obviously not high, but the scope has taken the punishment of load work up, zeroing, zero checks, and backcountry hunting just fine. The other is on my wife’s rifle, which is every scope’s dream job. Low recoil, low round count, more careful handling. But it has treated her well.

do you have one of them without adjustable parallax ? If so how do you like the illumination and also how far have you shot with them

Wow man. You have at least 3 threads started on Rokslide and at least 3 threads started on Snipershide about a 3-10 SHV, LOL.

Just based on the number of threads you've started, I'd say you're more than a little interested so just go buy it and try it out for yourself.

IF your mind isn't already made up, give a little more information: what's your budget, what conditions are you shooting in, do you have a weight goal, any mounting restrictions, what cartridge are you shooting, need/want illumination, any reticle preferences, any particular feature sets that are a sticking point, etc.

Without any context, I think the 3-10 SHV is overpriced for what you get. It is kinda light weight (but still heavy for what it is), the turrets suck, reticle selection is meh, fixed parallax in 2021 is retarded, 10 moa/rev turrets is pretty dumb. The scope is very short and may present mounting restrictions depending on you/your rifle setup. Glass is meh. Nothing really stands out about it. Some really like that the manufacturer puts a NF logo on it though. 🤷‍♂️
Sorry first few posts and wanted to get as much opinions as I can.... with that being said, my budget is 1500 but I would much rather stick around 1000 ....want the scope to be close to 20 oz.... 30mm tube and under 44 mm objective .... and it’s for a hunting rifle so decent glass with decent low light capabilities

I’ve got two of the NF SHV’s 3-10 older models with the force plex and adjustable parallax they have been solid not one problem other than mounting issues with the short tube...that being said I think you should take a look at the Vortex Razor light Hunter it’s a fine scope.

I’ve had people tell me to get a higher end scope since this rifle was 2500 I feel like that’s not needed tho with the way I hunt and shoot .... I will check that scope out thanks

I have killed a pile of things with 2 different 3-10 SHV's and am a fan.

I have the I guess now "older" versions, non-illuminated and side parallax. I have them both on short actions, so zero mounting issues for me. I personally like the eye box on the 3-10 SHV better than I did the 2.5-10 NXS....no clue why it felt so different, but it did for me and preferred the SHV.

I like them the most for the capped turrets, which for me makes it a great backpack/horse/travel gun with everything covered. I run those ADM (I think?) scoping caps and the thing is like a tank and I never worry about it. I zero at 100, know my hold overs to 300 and take the time to take the cap off and dial past 300. I have shot a deer at ~630 yds and its a fine scope. Sometimes practicing on paper and at the range I wish for a little more mag, but for hunting I am a fan.

Alright awesome thank you! What reticle do you use ? I’m sure I can find an older model and how would you compare the glass to other scopes ... I’ve owned vx 3i and vx5hd from leupold and looked through the nx8

I have one of the older ones with adjustable parallax. It works just like it's supposed to.

Mine has the MOAR reticle which I like a lot. I shot a doe last year at the last minute of legal shooting light, and it worked just fine. It was a clear evening and she was in a field, with woods behind her. I'm sure if it had been overcast and deep in the timber it might have been a little tough, but for me the juice is worth the squeeze.

I’ve been looking for one of the old models for a few hours and no luck .... not sure if it’s a good idea to get one without it

I had a MOAR illuminated. If it were parallax adjustable I might have it still, if it were mrad based and PA I'd have a few. That would make the perfect hunting scope in my eyes.

Did you have any issues with it not having parallax adjustment? I don’t mind it being moa but just don’t know a lot about how parallax effects point of impact out to 500

Depends what "higher end" gets you. I've had "higher end" scopes on full customs that now wear SWFA 3-9s or LRTS. Don't feel under scoped.

I'm sure they know their market better than I but I've always thought the 3-10 in mils with adjustable parallax, low profile exposed elevation turret, and capped windage would sell like hot cakes. Maybe they just feel that they sell more of these to the traditional hunting market that is familiar with MOA so they haven't bothered with it..

That’s pretty much the nxs that you described there .... and it is temping

I'd bite if the elevation was capped and it had the Mil-R reticle, but then I would ask for FFP, then we are giving a mouse a cookie.

I think the MOA association to hunters is the main reason.
