Nightforce NX6 Lineup

When someone gets the 2-12 in FFP, can yall post a picture of the reticle in the lowest power outside? I'd like to see if this reticle is usable before jumping ship to MOA and get the 2-12 in SFP. Granted I can make that work but would prefer to stay with mils.

It would be very helpful on low/mid/high powers. It's not the same as looking through a scope but it certainly would help.

If the bracket width was 10 mil (5x5) I'd have already put in a pre-order...

I’ll see if I can get a pic, but it’s not good. It’s about what most think it will be as there is no way to make a 20mil gap “good”.

Go figure...... I really dont understand a 20 mil gap for a 12 power optic. Who is shooting 20 mils on 12X? That's assuming that individual hasn't even dialed. Heck even my slow 6mm ARC shooting 108 ELDMs at 2550 fps, it takes me 1400 yards before I hit 20 mils.

I have discussed a clear ano/grayish coating with NF many times. I’ll ride them hard again this year at DSC next month.. hard to get away from me when you are stuck in a booth with me for a week
@EuroOptic, when you are stuck in a booth with NF people, try to get them to see the benefit of a reticle like the THLR/S2H. I think the NX6 2-12 would be tough to beat if it had a hunting specific reticle.

Or just a good plain mil-hash like the TMR / FML1 without esoteric features
I like the TMR reticle in a SFP scope, but for me, neither the fine lines nor the heavy lines are bold enough in a FFP scope. I think the mil-quad in the 3-9X SWFA has .07 mil thin lines and 1.2 mil thick lines. Those are plenty visible to me at low end of the power range.

Or just improve upon what they already have in the Mil C/R and MOAR. They don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Just bring the bold posts in closer and make it visible at low power.

I have the TMR currently in a FFP 3-18 mk6 and a 3.5-10 FFP old MK4 and I find it very good in both

The thing with FFP reticles is that the experience of using a fine FFP reticle over a little bit of time and becoming accustomed to it is not the same as looking through one when not accustomed and thinking it's very fine and you couldn't possibly use it. Even very fine FFP reticles are absolutely perfectly usable with no actual issues if you get used to them.

Do you hunt in thick dark woods much?

Can anyone shed any light on the 4Ai reticle?

I'm wanting something simple that works in dark timber, but doesn't need to rely on illumination to do so.

Anyone have a photo of what this reticle really looks like in the real world (rather than the attached illustration)?

Yes. I bush hunt in New Zealand rainforest
What scope/reticle are you using?

Edit - I looked up the FML1 and the thin crosshairs appear to be the same 0.07 mil as the SWFA 3-9 so I don’t think I would have any trouble with it. The TMR reticle is the one that is too fine for me.

The FFP TMR in my 2 scopes is 0.1MRAD thickness in the thin portion

That would work fine for me. Which model? I know I thought the TMR reticle was usable in the Mark 4HD, but I questioned whether that scope would be legal in the state I was most likely to hunt in due to certain electronic features it had.

Edit - the thin crosshairs on the Mark 5HD 3.6-18 my brother has are .05 mil, per the Leupold website, and too thin for me. The .02 mil thicker thin crosshair on 3-9 SWFA mil quad reticle is much more visible to me.
