Nightforce NX6 Lineup

I was digging the 3x18 until I saw the capped turrets for sfp but not for ffp.

None of the SFP options for the 1-6, 2-12, or 3-18 have a single MIL option. In the year 2026 how do you release a product with only MOA and #4 reticle in your SFP options and nothing in MIL? Seems utterly ridiculous.

And the FFP versions have more christmas trees than Santa's workshop. Not a single MIL-R reticle in the lineup of MPVO's?!? I actually audibly laughed when I saw the trail of hash marks a mile long on the Mil-C reticle and how thin the vertical bars were at low power.

I was optimistic of getting a used NX-6 some point, but now it looks like Maven is going on my wish list this year. Also looking at an NX-8 1-8 with the FC-mil which I was hoping was on the 1-6 or 2-12. Though I'm not a regular purchaser of scopes over $1k so they aren't losing much business over me, just another casual hunter looking for something with a little bit of drop holdover without being too busy. And I'm perfectly fine with SFP at 12 power or less.

But 20 mils? Even in your hypothetical 10 mils would cover it. Looking quickly at shooterscalculator, even a 223 at 750 yards would need a 40 mph wind to get close to 10 mils of windage. Moving targets I guess? I don't know. To each their own. Thanks for the response.

I think originally they had some feedback or a request from one of their .mil contracts for the milXT reticle. Then they copied forward that same logic to this new 2-12 fc-mrx.

But to your original question: when I see Xmas tree reticle, I’m thinking of holdover engagements of multiple range targets for a competition stage.

I haven’t yet looked through all the comments. This is one of the ideas I drew up four years ago. In general, this is what I want. I have variations of this, but you get the idea. To my best recollection intended these for a 2.5-12x. Little dot only would illuminate. See in the timber at first/last light, and all the references I would need.

Kinda reminds of the the IHR reticle they put in SHV’s back in the day. Sure wish they’d bring that back for a hunting option.

I like that. Assuming that's 1/2mrad windage graduations for a total of 3mrad left and 3mrad right.

I wouldn't call it perfect but I'd call it usable. In this thread, that is a compliment.

The good thing is that Nightforce regularly updates reticle offerings mid year. All it will take is that update to the 2-12 F1 and it will be awesome.

I’ll be buying the F1 2-12 Mil on the first shipment. I already run the Mil-C reticle hunting so I’ll survive the gas gun abomination reticle.

Sorry, I don't completely follow. What update is "that update" your refer to in your second sentence? I think you are referring to a hope that a new reticle will be released mid-year. Asking because I (many of us) may be interested in the NX6 2-12 despite its shortcomings...

I'll bite. I'm not a gasgun guy but I'm one of those odd guys that is on a constant search for the ultimate "general purpose" rifle/scope combo and I am VERY excited about this scope. I hunt but I also participate in various long range games and training. I've been looking for just the right optic that offers a balance of everything.

What is "everything?" In no particular order:

1. Good glass. It needs to be clear and nearly fishbowl free at all magnificaitons. It needs to be crisp and able to discern targets clearly out to 1000 yards and work at dusk for closer targets.

2. Needs to have a low end no more than 3X and preferrably less. I train for snap shots at 20-50 yards. The reticle on this scope looks like it will be handy when dialed down... that broken donut should draw the eye well, especially if it is bright but even without illumination, the Christmas tree should blur into the background.

3. The high ends needs to be at least 10X and preferrably a bit more. While the full Christmas tree isn't what I'd choose, I can live with it. Hell, I might even learn to use it as intended.

4. Needs to be light weight and 23 ounces barely qualifies... The Leupold Mark 4 2.5-10 looks nifty at 21 ounces but the extra capability of this seems worth the extra 2 ounces.

5. Needs to have real paralax adjustment... I've found that this is a bigger issue than I had assumed when I started shooting beyond 300 yards.

6. Needs to be rugged. I abuse my gear and... well... Nightforce seems to be one of the few that can handle that.

I'm very excited about this scope and will likely get one. Would I have chosen a different reticle? Probably, but I can live with it. I've been using the Mark 4 4.5-18X on my Sig Cross and I've been generally happy with it but the low end is just a bit more than I want sometimes. The electronics also took a dump on the first day of hunting season for me so there's that.

I am not sure if this is what you wanted, but its what I'm thinking about this scope.

LiGhTwEiGhT aNd cOmPaCt - it’s an ounce lighter than the 4-32 NX8 and a half inch longer.

Reticles are gay.

At least I enjoy shooting behind my NX8’s and RS1.2’s. Dont have an issue staying with them until a MFG actually releases something worth snagging. cough S2H cough.

You’re saying this reticle would be good for the gas gun games space? That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Because it sure as heck is less than ideal (god awful) for functional hunting from 50-600 yards imo. Not sure if you’re up to speed on the development of the S2H scope, but those specs are what I (and many others) would consider ideal.
