Nightforce Introduces Reticle Markeplace

It's NOT a priority. Hunters have never been the target category for NF. The SHV was their nod to hunter interest, and obviously they weren't selling enough to keep it a viable product line.

I’m going to come off of the top rope on this one - I own several (maybe 10) NF scopes. I happen to love them. As a brand, they are putting their money where the money is - PRS, AR matches, etc. where you can throw a tennis ball and bounce it off of 30 5k rifles.

Use them, or don’t. But why in the world would a company making high(er) end optics listen to a group of guys that think Tikkas were made by the Lord Jesus Christ himself?

I’m kinda joking…kinda…

I think there is need for this hybrid hunter category. Mostly short range hunting shots at low power with high visibility, but need for

Anyway, I look forward to the Rokscope with a usable FFP reticle. The NX6 2-12 looks awesome in all regards, but the reticle is just a killer and I'm not particularly picky. I just want something that can work at lower powers but extends to longer ranges on occassion.
Yeah seems the hunters are unanimous on mpvo mag ranges but the lpvo reticle designs. We want to work in those distances. The s2h crew want to work 800-1000+ so distinction to be made. And they have no interest in reticle solutions there, dial only, which is fine. So for the 0-600 mortals, or maybe realists, less attention paid. I’m guessing if socom or 3 gun etc can and seem to prefer reticle to 600 then that’s the gear I look at more. Bit more emphasis on low light and higher end of lpvo mag range image quality. So s2h reticle only has about 2 mil elevation, 1.5 to tip of fatty by looks of it. Hope the other reticle squares the east west with south then I’d become more interested. No need to dial for me. The scope can have it all, by all means put a locking zero stop turret on it and groovy if swap happy cap options but leave 5-6 mil in the vertical too, not just the wind. Covers everyone. So I’m also out on the reticle they’ve shown so far.

When does shot show start? Isn’t it today? Anything new in scopes and reticles seen yet?

Also totally agree with reticle gets out of way and you see what you’re looking for. Until I got enough time with dmx I hated the thought of tree but at least with that one a non issue. But 20 mil south on new mrx removes any low post support for lower mag stuff so I’m out on that one.

When a $800 Tikka or a $550 Ruger American or even a $450 6mmArc AR is no longer the weak link in your killing setup but your $2000 nightforce is, you change scopes.

I don't know that the nightforce is the weak link...... I'd call it the inability of the end user to use properly use the reticle or their personal preference for something different. We can all say they suck as hunting reticles..... but they get used in the military to hunt things that shoot back in the worst situations imaginable. We're just a bunch of first world problem assholes. LOL

That’s your metric? Do you even understand what that means? Do you think mil people are stalking through the woods and shooting things on 3-8x with Nightforce scopes?

lol, every other day it's culling to 900, it's someone ole lady smashing elk at 1000, here's what it looks like on an elk face at 1200, you just made a comment about 800 and also 'that's not what competition winners are using' etc. pretty much steady above 600 yard talk, actually seems to be more above than below, just high level observations, here, the podcasts etc., anywhooo, I got no issue with your direction and goals, didn't think it was any mystery or would touch a nerve to point it out? weird

the low end mag range it's far closer to what we want as you are addressing the 95% of where kills happen with reticles you can see on low mag and or without illumination as much as possible, I'm all for the attention to the ffp weakness for hunting, a dialling for solutions only option won't work for me and zero interest in what it can do past 500 on game or 600 on steel, I have options, no biggie, you said you had 2 reticles, looking forward to see what your other one is, not an issue if that one won't work for me either, now off to see if any shot show news from Trijicon or other NF products

LMFAO! yes we are, or maybe I am the only one? Hahaha

All the bitching i do I can still step back and say in confidence if not for this space and this crew I would not be doing so.

They push the boundaries and despite humanities stubbornness to resist anything new and adapt etc.

They bring a lot of good forward. A LOT!

As a ‘late adopter’ and maybe fudd aged for sure but thinkers can remove bias, forward think it, and still get in game to see what parts of what they are doing actually are beneficial...to them.

KISS - they take that to heart. They are genuinely trying to improve our game. Via ‘their’ game...which is not exactly the same as all our ‘games’. So we just need to read through the lines and take what applies to our own game.

What would be extra cool is if they did the same sort of step back and think a little bit more about the rest of our games which aren’t full blown alpha elk ridge sniping and training others to the same. There’s room to still cover that and get it right for the mortals. It’s not that big a gap to bridge. Give and take bitches. A little more circle jerk and a little less big spoon little spoon. ❤️😂😂😂

It's not a metric at all. It's merely making the point that as much as everyone wants to complain that they aren't suitable for use to chase fuzzy brown creatures as a hobby, there ARE people who use them professionally in situations that are life dependent and they work. So, while not IDEAL for most people for their hunting, they are certainly serviceable. I don't care for them either, other than the ForcePlex in my SHV scopes, but if I had to make a MOAR work, it definitely isn't the scopes fault if I miss.

Nightforce doesn't give two shits about targeting the hunting market. It's not their niche. If they did, they wouldn't discontinue the SHV. It obviously wasn't selling enough to make it worth their time and money to keep it in the line-up. The NX6, at twice the cost, really isn't going to gain market share from hunters. People that would have been buying the NXS or NX8 scopes may buy the NX6 instead, but people who were buying the SHV probably aren't stepping up. Those reticles aren't an improvement on anything that hunters want, though I guess you could say that the 4i is a nod to those who, for whatever reason, like an extra wide #4 style reticle.
