I "thought" I might have had a tracking issue, and since I've had an issue with the zero stop since I bought it as a demo, I figured the time was now. Was tracking an issue? Not sure - lot's of variables. I have to believe it was something with me. But the zero stop has never worked - you loosen the torque screws on top and it doesn't allow the zero stop to spin freely.

I expect better than 8 weeks on a $2200+ NF that has a reputation like NF does. I've had dealings with Swaro binoculars, Leupold scope, and Zeiss and it's a 1-2 week turnaround.

I knew the fanboys would jump in the fight. Hey, I was a NF fanboy until this myself. I'm just speaking some experience of what really happened. I bought the scope to hunt - I guess we'll wait and test it in the 2023 season.

What did Sean have you try doing to fix the zero stop, that ultimately did not work?

I thought they were great to deal with when I lost the windage cap on my NX8. They mailed me one for free and wished me luck on the rest of my season.
Totally different, that’s just putting a part in an envelope and mailing it. I’ve had similar service from Kimber who has notoriously bad customer service.

Bunch of fanboys. 8 weeks is too long. No excuse.

Right? 8 weeks is a long time and the dude is probably frustrated because:

A: he spent 1800 dollars on a scope and expected good service.
B: he wanted to use his scope for a hunt.

I never understand the responses guys get, why is it so hard to just agree that waiting 8 weeks sucks regardless of why or who made the scope???

I had a terrible experience with kifaru that was 100% on them. All I got was hate, not one person on rokslide said “yeah that sucks, I’d be pissed too”, people just dogpiled me “then go get another pack” etc etc. it’s hilarious.

Honestly, that's not bad compared to the wait times for pricier glass. It's not instant gratification, I know and I feel your frustration but NF makes fine products and stands behind it. My primary and back-up rifle are both sporting NF. i know a guy who bought some high end glass and he had to ship it to Europe and waited nearly 10 months for it to come back. This is the time of year when hunters are sending in scopes they damaged in the field making for longer wait times...NF is usually 3-4 weeks.

Does that include the sweatshop labor?

In all seriousness though, I'm guessing Vortex probably just tosses any defective or damaged scope in the trash and sends a brand new one. Sometimes, its cheaper to do that than it is to fix them. Kind of like how the USFS firefighters only use a hose once. Its cheaper to buy a new hose from China than it is to pay a gov't employee to roll one up.

That's just a guess, though.
You think they leave em in to woods?!? Not a chance, those hose lines all get broken down hiked out and then washed at a station and reused.

I'd be impatient for sure but wouldn't get too knotted up over 8 weeks. If it wasn't hunting season you probably wouldn't have noticed as much. Luckily you had a back up gun; just another reason to do so.

There is your problem. When your answer is calling people "fanboys" you demonstrate a lack of interest in hearing things that do not confirm what you want to hear.

Your failure to plan and send it in sooner is not NFs fault. Your buying a demo optic and accepting it in less than functional condition is also not their fault. There are lots of arguments not to buy a NF. One of which is if you need instant replacement.

The funny thing is I sold my NF to buy an S&B, but giving you the same advice appears to make me an NF fanboy. Complaining about a company, but not switching to another option comes across as just throwing a tantrum.

totally within reason, expectations are the issue, not NF, I have dealt with NF for years, they have excellent service, they’ll take your calls, give advice and take care of you. 8 weeks is totally reasonable. I’ve also had dealings with Swarovski, six months, but I didn’t start a thread throwing shade at them, there isn’t a business in the world that doesn’t have challenges these days, times are changed

Eight weeks may or may not be a lot; there isn't much context here.

1) what exactly is the problem
2) when did the problem occur
3) what did Sean have him try to fix the problem
4) was this problem caused by the OP or the original owner of the scope

If he lost a set screws or turret cap, 8 weeks is a long time. If he did something that needs disassembly of erectors, it probably isn't. I'm also aware that NF is an under promise company for things in their control. Rather than say 2-3 weeks and it be 4, they would rather set the expectation for longer and deliver early.

I bought a brand new Christensen Mesa FFT. The stock had a small hole in it and I didn’t not want it to crack, so I sent it in. 4 weeks to swap stock with a new one. I asked if they could just send me a new stock and they said no. It is what it is. I am not up in flames about it. If I broke the zero stop because I over torqued it and got it taken care of free whether it took 2 weeks or 10 weeks i’d be happy. Too many people in this country want it right NOW.

I've removed zero stops from some of my scopes to get more travel out of the turret. They're not a necessity. You can hunt with that scope all season and send it it during the winter when you won't care if they take their time with it. I don't currently own a NF but I'd be happy with their low return rates and the company standing behind their product.

That’s crazy fast for Swaro. I’ve sent two items back to Swaro and both cost more than $2200. One was right at two months one a little longer. One was my fault, the other was a mechanical failure. 8 weeks is in line with my sample of two optics I’ve had to send back.

Curious how long ago you bought the demo nightforce?

Sad, It seems there is a lot more pilling on here lately. No matter the circumstances. If you post it, be prepared to be blamed, insulted and 2nd guessed. At least the Meme creators are making more money.

When I read the title of this thread I came here thinking they refused to fix a problem or sent him back a scope that wasn’t functioning or claim there was no problem when there clearly was…instead it looks like the customer service was fine. He just wants Vortex Optics turn around times. No where is NF’s warranty does it list a specific turn around time.

Hey last time I sent an optic off it was to Leica for a $3k bino, took 8 months and that was them just replacing it with a new one waiting on replacement inventory. I wasn’t thrilled but also didn’t complain, it is what it is.

I'm shocked at the number of folks that are defending 8 weeks warranty return time. I'd expect 8 weeks from a bargin barrel manufacturer. When you spend $$$ money on something you expect:

- High quality
- A++ customer service
- Fast service
- Above and Beyond service

Anything else is unacceptable. Period.

You have never owned swaro or other high-end optics and sent them in for work.
