I haven't ever owned a night vision optic and I'm not looking to spend thousands of dollars. With that being said, what would be a good night vision optic for a few hundred bucks for a .22 WMR. It's not for anything too high speed or hardcore...mainly just pest control around the house and for fun. Thanks for the help in advance.

This probably isn't what your going to want to hear, but at a couple hundred bucks I'd get a good red/green light and shoot varmints at night with that.

I've got a bit of time messing around with a sight mark photon and I found it quite disappointing. Night vision is still very much pay to play.

ETA: I'm not top of new developments in the nightvision world. And maybe digital NV has really taken a big couple steps forward. I'd hit up the people at nightgoggles.com. I've dealt with their sister company and they were super responsive and helpful when it came to finding something that would suit my needs.

I don't have a huge sample size of using thermal scope, but I recently used an ATN ThOR LT 3-6x thermal scope for a night hog hunt.

It was quite functional, but the resolution seemed like it could be better at times. It was a humid night (65-70%), so that could just be what you have to deal with.

I was able to take a nice boar, so it did it's job.

If you want night vision cheapish, you will want the wraith and I think some guys are updating the i.r. light to have more range. There are videos out there and some look really good.
