In regards to success, how many people move at night locating and found it to up the odds? How does it affect your sleep, attitude, overall hunt, etc.?

If they're not talking or sounding off during daylight hours then it doesn't hurt to adapt to the elks schedule. Even If that means calling to them before it gets light. Imho

back when I used to hunt elk on road systems we would be in the truck and bugleing basins/draws starting at about 2-3 am. we'd locate several bulls and then make the decision on what one to go after when day light was rolling around. its been a while since I hunted elk from the truck but in the wilderness I will do similar tactics if getting nothing during the day. where I hunt I don't need to do much at night though since there usually screaming all around camp giving me a good heading for day break. as far as affecting sleep man we would be zombies by the end of elk season doing it the old way. I don't miss it, for many reasons...

Think about the mid day "lull" if you will. Utilize that time for sleep, while the elk are sleeping (unless you like to pursue them in their bedding areas). I think its highly effective to locate them at night and be into elk from the first moment of daylight. Yes its tiring and tedious but elk season only comes around once a year, so I try to hunt with no regrets.
