Night hunting

for lack of a better thread class. I know the guvment put the kibash on night hunting but I've seen winslow homers paintings so I know it has a history. anybody have an idea/story on how native americans/others hunted at night.it must have been done and I am curious....

I've hunted for predators and jack rabbits using spot lights. Lots of fun in Hicktown.

As far as elk I call at night, and if they're bugling I get close in the darkness. Then I wait for first light to try and close the gap.

I would think the Indians would have hunted on the full moon. Lots of light to kill by.

I call coyotes in the winter with snow and a full moon. It can be very bright out.
Its a rush to call dogs at night.

I have not studied this subject, but I suspect most of all the Indians night hunting was done with a snare or other form of trap.
