Nickel plated brass issue

Using Federal N P brass I’ve noticed some of the finish is flaking off. These are factory rounds and once fired they seem to be flaking. I’ve used NP brass in the past and never seen this even after multiple reloads. Is the finish that poor? May have to find some regular brass to reload. Disappointing

I've loaded tons of nickle brass for my 300 wsm , federal and winchester. Never had an issue

Flaking off the main body of the case and a bit on the shoulder area. This is even before I resize the case. Never had this issue before

This is a well-known issue of reloading nickel plated brass. Though I can usually get one or two reloads out of it.

If it's flaking then get rid of it. You don't want it anywhere near your die or rifle.
