NF NXS windage cap cover

I have a couple NXS 2.5-10x42's that I would like to find a soft (PVC?) rubber type cap to cover my windage turret as I don't anticipate dialing for wind. It looks like it would be about 1.065" ID.

Like to slip over the windage turret, or to take the turret cap off and replace one over it so it's non adjustable?

Do you have access to a 3D printer? A TPU cap would be easy to make.

If you put a rubberized top on it you're likely going to increase traction and torque for any brush you drag it through and make it worse. I have the same scope, annoys me that it doesn't lock but it's pretty stiff to turn. A custom solution that anchors to the other side of the scope would be good.

RSKinner, just to cover the Turret. NF used to send them (red ones) with the older non Zero stop NXS, but no more. No access to 3D.

NF used to make this scope with capped turrets but stopped for some reason. I wish they'd cap the wind turret at least and stop being moronic about it. I'd happily pay the extra $50 or whatever for the capped option. I can't imagine a single situation with a 2.5-10 scope that I'd want to dial wind.

In any event, I thought of making my own cap also but think it may make the problem worse unless it covers it completely and then would need to be secured with tape or something anyway. I just use tape now directly on the dial. I then used a white paint market to put a witness mark on the tape to dial so I can quickly see if it moved by accident. I also considered loosening the allen key slightly before taping so if for some reason the dial moved it wouldn't grab the turret gear to actually move unless I tightened the key again.

I have a NXS 2.5-10x32 w/IHR that has a zero stopped exposed elevation dial and capped windage. It's the only one I've seen like this. I purchased it used so I don't know the background. I'm guessing it may have been a factory capped model that someone sent back to add elevation when NF used to do small customizations. ...but again, that's a guess on my part. I wish every NXS I have was in this configuration of the dials.

I did have a NXS 2.5-10x42 and it had capped windage/elevation. I sold it because I hated the reticle in dark bush conditions. But it certainly was an option at one time. NF then reduced the NXS model line and I'm assuming wanted to simplify their offerings.

I don't know why the exposed windage is still a thing with the NXS. I'm guessing it may have to do with existing contracts requiring it and they don't want to offer capped versions as they have moved onto pushing the NX8 line.

I'd like to have NF introduce a 3-15x42 scope in the same weight as the 2.5-10x42 with capped windage. Bonus points if it's FFP and has a decent reticle at low power.
