Definitely mylar balloons! I've lost count of how many I've found/seen while out in the woods.

As far as the disposable 1lb propane cylinders and the legislation, I get it... taking away individual's freedom of choice, more seemingly useless "feel good" legislation, etc. There are definitely more important things to focus on, more impactful things. It's one of those cliched low hanging fruit items that takes the focus off of addressing the root cause of many of the state's problems while looking like they're still "getting something done."

On the other side of the discussion, if you've not lived in that state in or near any one of the major population centers, it can be difficult to comprehend the population density and the amount of pollution and garbage crated there on a daily basis. Reusable/refillable anything there definitely makes sense. It's a shame that it has to be legislated.

At least three companies make refillable cylinders, and it doesn’t take a math genius to compare the recycling costs to the cost of simply exchanging refillable cylinders. It’s not even a feel good environmental issue, but simple economics.
Well, I didn't realize they made (legal to transport)reusable 1lb. cylinders til today. I'll keep refilling my green ones with the $10 adapter, but If the reusable ones last longer they would be worth it. $5 for a disposable. $15 for a reusable. The disposables usually only last a couple of years before rusting up or swelling.

The only thing I use the green ones for is my torch. And, I don't use my torch that often, mostly to light my pellets for my smoker. I buy one maybe every 2-3 years. I've bought the hoses and adapters to run all my propane stuff with my 5 or 1 gallon tanks.

Not that it stops anybody, but they are illegal to transport them once you refill them (the disposable one's). This is a direct result of slob campers that do not properly dispose them, or simply leave them around the campground. Hell, I remember going to a campsite after summer ended. The entire campground was covered with 1 to 3 feet of trash (I'm talking about 30+ campsites). I camped further in, in a spot with little to no trash. But on my way out I stoped and pulled out trash bags and began filling them (an entire box). I filled my bed to the top of the shell with full trash bags. In town I stoped behind a business center puting 2 bags in a bin so I didn't fill and inconvenience any business. A Sheriff deputy saw me and pulled up, he intended to cite me until he looked in the back of my truck, quickly said have a nice day and was gone.

The issue is a people problem. Local to me the campgrounds, day use areas... are littered with trash, dirty diapers, and yes, empty propane cylinders. I certianly wish they'd cite the offenders. But it's easier for government to be big and impose regulations.

I don't like it one bit, unfortunately, it isn't going to change.
I’d bet my bottom dollar that those “slob campers” you’re referring to leaving their trash everywhere are Liberal voting city dwellers from whichever city is closest. The very people voting for the idiot banning the things they are doing.

Let's start with something we can all agree on... banning mylar balloons! I've never found a 1# propane cylinder while hunting. However, I've found many "matched sets" of mylar balloons!
This! An out-of-state buddy and I have an informal competition finding balloons while out hunting. They’re relatively common to find. If we find them, we take a pic, send it, then pack out the ballon. Found this one just last week. It’s not too rare to find a handful of balloons during the course of a hunting season….

Does the ban on disposable propane tanks apply to iso-butane canisters used for, say, Jet Boil or similar backpacking stoves?

Fun fact, mark those spots where you find them, most the time with the thermals deer beds are close by. Often times I find bedding areas where I find balloons.

Thanks pretty cool! Hadn’t considered that, but yes, usually mark the balloon location
