The guides and processors in newfoundland are not concerned about meat quality or quantity. They do a little bit less than the minimum. The further you shoot from camp the less meat you get I was told. Sent it to processor came back full of dirt and hair. With cuts and labeling I've never seen. It's a mystery when you take a package from freezer . Do your own processing if possible

I just got back from NL. My outfitter took great care with the meat from the moment it was killed till we dropped it off at the processor. I am having it shipped just debone, not finally processed, so we will see. When I was there dropping it off it was a clean place and they seemed to be careful in trimming etc. We will see.

The outfitter and guides were very proud and respectful of the moose itself, and meat quality

I’m here in Deer Lake checking in and I showed this thread to the outfitter and plan on showing the butcher . The outfitter said it a problem a couple years ago but it’s been addressed .

Good luck I'm going to Roberts on Oct 4th. If you don't mind. Would you post your experience when return?
Thanks

This is my last day in camp , I shot a nice bull , nothing big , but nice.
I had a great experience here .
Everyone has been great , from Annie and Otto down to the guides .
The food is good and lots of it .
The rut seems to just be starting, my guide called two small bulls in and we put a stalk on a really nice one , but a cow busted us.
100% satisfied with my time here .IMG_1113.jpeg

Just about my turn at this. They have been killing all pretty big bulls at the camp I'm heading to and the outfitter said they saw some giants this week the bowhunters in there just couldn't get close enough to. Customs in Toronto went smooth and everyone was friendly. 1 more flight to go and a few nights in the hotel....

So , I bought air tags for all my bags and gun case just for this trip . Worked great , going up .
Checking my rifle case in at Deer Lake coming back and when they ran it through scanner I had left a cartridge in my case.
So I had to open the TSA locks and the cartridge was in between layers of foam , but we found it . I put it in with the other ammo , and away we went , I thought .
As we are pulling away from the terminal my phones telling me I've left my gun case behind , great ....that set the mood for a long irritable ride , or two actually . When I went to the INFO desk , in Fort Lauderdale , they showed all my bags made both flights , now I'm confused . My gear bag came down carousel one , my gun was setting on the floor at the far end , oversized luggage area .
Yup rifle made the trip sans airtag , it must've fallen out in the search .

Did I mention I hate flying ...?
