Newby Lefty Hunter - Looking for 1st all around hunting rifle

I think I have a viper hst 4-16x that will go on it for now. It comes in at only 20oz I think. Bipod, sling and a cheek pad next to get.

I have a Leupold VX-Freedom 4-12x40 on mine. No complaints. Its pretty light. A bit over 8lbs with sling and buttstock pouch/slight cheek riser. Although they are now $100 more than when I bought mine and IMO they arent worth it at that price.

I have a vortex hst 4-16 that will probably go on this for now that weighs around 20oz I think. Need to figure out bipod and then what ammo it likes.

Swfa 3-9 comes in at 19-20 ounces and is a better scope than a vortex. I have 2 fixed 6 swfa’s on my tikkas and have no problem shooting out to 300 yards with them

I love my lefty t3x’s! Get a vertical grip if you are going to shoot the factory stock.

Had a viper hs 4-16x50mm that I mounted in Tammy extra lows, added the pistol grip and sling. She’s all in 7lb 10oz. Just about half of the savage 110 tactical.

Don't overlook the beretta brx1 rifles. The bolt and ejection flips right or left handed and it's a smooth straight pull action. Offered in 243, 6.5 cm, 308, 3006, and 300wm, they are elk capable.

Personally I have the 243, 20" and have taken coyote & deer with it. Coyote was 360 away, 1 shot.

They are a little pricey, but a better design than the savage impulse, and not as spendy as blaser etc.

Factory Tikka 6.5 creed or PRC. Nightforce SHV scope. Practice until you’re very good then think about other options like switching out the stock and upgrading.

Creed is the choice if you’re planning on staying below 600-700 yards.

Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, I would put a new stock/chassis towards the bottom of your list of upgrades. Get one of the vertical grip pieces for the factory stock and run it. Put the money towards good glass, or a suppressor if you don't already have one.

Installed the pistol grip option and am sticking with factory stock for now. Not happy with the scope I had laying around that I put on it so landed a nx8 2.5-20 that I need to mount. Have to get bigger rings though and may go with a rail to give me better mounting options. The nx8 doesn’t have much room in front of the turrets for mounting options with direct rings.

Also added arcs rail to stock and will be testing on the tripod once I get the new glass mounted and sited in.

Looking for a muzzle brake to help with muzzle rise and bipod options (not even sure if I want a bipod on this yet, shooting off a bag will probably be fine for anything prone and the tripod on anything higher)

So many variants out there for brakes it’s hard to pick one. But ideally looking for something to help with the rise more than the recoil.

A suppressor will help as well. Now that the nfa tax is 0, wait times may be a little long but it is worth it. AB a-10 is just under 500 and there are a couple more cans on that price range that have good reviews.

Unfortunately I live in a nanny state so no suppressor options. But there are some pretty innovative brakes out there. Still trying to research them before I pull the trigger on one. Have a Texas hog hunt coming up soon that I gotta get the rifle sorted for so will likely pick one soon or wait til after.
