I also have a Kelty redcloud 90 that I have used. It isn't bomb proof but not a bad back at all either. If you have or can get a promotive account it is worth it for some good savings.

I hope it works for you. I've day hunted with mine and like it so far. An eco will be in my future some day but I just can't do it now. Until then I think this will work. Hopefully I didn't tell you wrong. My cousin ordered on in mandrake as well. Mine is the highlander pattern.

I have an EXO however i bought my son a used Osprey backbacking pack and it has worked out great. It is very comfortable. light and can haul alot. Used once it was $125. cant beat that. Here it is hauling half a boned out deer and head and his day hunting gear.

Just checking back in and seeing if you got your pack yet and what you thought off the Slumberjack Bounty.

On that budget, I'd look for an REI XT85 or an Osprey. Let us know how it works out with the Slumberjack.

Hey guys, just got the pack in a day or so ago. I've looked it over pretty well and tried it on but no chance to put any weight in it yet. So far it seems like it is going to work great but I'll have to throw something heavy in there and try it out. Keep in mind, I'm new to this and have never even put one of the high end pack on so no real comparison but ignorance is bliss... I hope. Things I like from looking: U zip which gives great access, weapon carrier built-in, and the design of the side pockets with space behind them to carry a tripod or something similar.
I'll let you know once I get a chance to take a hike with it loaded.

High end packs don't usually hurt, so compare to that. Looking fwd to your experience

Finally got a hike in with the new SJK pack. Loaded about 40 lbs in it and did about 3 miles with as much elevation change as I could find near the house. Overall, I'm happy with the pack and think it will fill my needs, at least to start. Pack did not hurt at all and the load felt secure and well balanced. I did get a bit more pressure on the front of the shoulders but think I can fix that with better fitting. For the $130 I don't think I could beat it. Thanks for all the info guys. I'll post updates if anything new comes up.
