Newberg says a $40 elk tag (or whatever it cost) is a $25,000 elk tag for residents.

Not sure what your referring to, got an specifics and facts you'd like to share other than a vague comment?

My post was very simple and I believe you know exactly what I mean, welfare recipients who feign ignorance not withstanding.

He's probably gonna circle around to saying that non-residents deserve the same tag allocations as residents because like 1% of their tax money goes to Federal Lands.

I'm not circling anywhere. I mean exactly what I posted.

Being vague with no facts only leads someone to believe that you have an option, and have no hard facts to base that option off from.

If that's his angle here's a fact. Every state has federal land, maybe his federal tax dollars go to the federal lands in his state?

Randy needs income>Clicks Generate Income>Controversy Generates Clicks>Clicks lead to interest in hunting> interest in hunting makes people do more intel>more intel causes more competition>more competition leads to tags being harder to obtain>more participants and less tags lead to more money being charged for tags>more money for tags and more competition gives people a reason to complain>Randy address's the complaining on podcast>podcast generates more clicks>Randy makes more money>rinse wash repeat

So, is Randy to blame, or are "we" to blame for not watching/clicking normal stuff? Probably both.

As much as I want to criticize the mainstream media (for example) what they puke out is a reflection of us as a whole.

All these numbers are over my head, can't figure it out.

But I also could never figure out how a required license purchase for points wasn't also part of the cost of building points.

The mainstream media is a reflection of what their sponsors want us to see. Brought to you by Pfizer.

Hunting content is no different. They want more hunters to purchase more gear.

Okee dokee....so I guess are you saying that the USA is a socialist country?

I'm not smart enough to figure it out....but I am dumb enough to live in Idaho so I got that going for me.

Don't forget game agency's trying to sell more tags/licenses.

It's all a vicious cycle.

And who supports the sponsors? We do. Nobody wants to admit that though.

By comparing it to Cheyenne or Boise, you clearly know nothing about how expensive Bozeman is...

Median Home Price January 2024:

Cheyenne - $425,000
Boise - 495,000
Bozeman - $762,000

Not all Western states are the same, and certainly not all Western towns and cities are the same. When I came to Bozeman over 30 years ago the saying was " half the paycheck is the view." Wages were LOW here for many years, and only recently have caught up with other comparably sized towns of 50K people. Having said that, my daughter is a nurse but can't really afford to live here where she was raised. She lives in Billings because the pay is more there than here, and housing is significantly less.
The stock model in my neighborhood is a 1,250 sf 3/2 on 6,250 sf lots and they generally go for $1.7M-$1.8M.

I am glad to see there are still places like Bozeman where real estate is affordable.

Newberg is an idiot.

DC is VERY expensive, and you can barely varmint hunt there

You got to substantiate your opinion and form it constructively otherwise it’s just name calling
Sarcasm partially. Satire a bit.

If he's equating all (pick a state-hawaii) the taxes/col/etc a resident pays-actuates it to a single hobby fee (say surfing) and comps that to what a non resident pays to go Hawaii to fly to Hawaii to surf, yeah, no shit it's more expensive for the Hawaiian to surf in Hawaii than you jumping on a plane to surf Hawaii once for $2500.

Then, the part where the plane flew over your head (dry sarcasm), DC is exceptionally expensive with barely varmint hunting (DC shooter, scalise shooter, senators shootout in 1800s/1900s etc) and use his idiotic actuarial analogy.....

Do I need to continue or are you following what I'm saying?

This is not sarcasm.

Read the room. You are new, and we are respectful to each other on here.
