I know there is a lot of folks here that don’t like weatherby but I thought this was worth a post. I like what they did here. Sure they could have done .22 creed chambering here, but I like how they kept some nostalgia with the .224 weatherby. In a 1:8 this will be a great, lightweight, deer/antelope/coyote gun. I’m glad they did it in a deluxe and not some plastic Hushin rifle as well. The OGs bring a pretty penny on gunbroker.

That’s cool. The Weatherby Mark V stock fits me really well - high gloss & super smooth.

I think it will be a winner. The 224 is an odd under powered cartridge, so keeping it is weird, but I’m always glad to see another fast twist 22-250 on the market.

Good for them. Making it a 1:8” twist is great. The .224 Weatherby is one of the neatest cartridges made. I was having one put together this year and this should make brass easier to come by.
Would love to hear the specs of the one you are putting together.

While the rifle looks great and I love that they are finally getting with the times in regards to twist rate, I wish they would have either come out with a new round or just gone with a 22 Creedmoor offering. I know, I know. Most Weatherby guys abhor the Creedmoor cartridges, which is why I think it would have been great for them to design something new. The .224 Weatherby Mag was cool in its day, but the belt and weird (Weatherby) rounded shoulder don't add anything. Something with performance in between the 22 Creed and the 220 Jaybird, or conversely something in between the "old" 224 Weatherby mag and the 22 Creed, either of which would have the Weatherby name on it would probably do well.
