Since you seem like an expert. Might I ask your advice on the summit 2? I was wondering if the reduced weight due to being carbon fiber impairs the stability of the tripod itself? Would choosing the original summit or the aluminum version be more stable?

Great question - the new Summit Carbon II is going to be the most stable out of any of our Summit tripods. The Summit Carbon II has a max load rating of 22 lbs which is almost 5x more than the Summit SS-P and almost 2x as much as the Summit Carbon. The Summit Carbon II is the way to go for stability.
