RRS teased new inverted tripod

Looks like the stowed "diameter" is a little larger. Is it anything noticeable in practical use?

Also, could you compare the weight to your 33? The new one is about a pound heavier? I imagine you can feel that just picking them up side by side?
It's actually way more comfortable/convenient to have the space between the legs while closed. I hike into stands with the rifle clipped in and over my shoulder. Makes for a nice handle. The tfct closed that gap.
Weight is noticeable to pick them up, it is less than a pound. The weight doesn't bother me whatsoever for what I'm using it for, especially coming from a fat boy tripod. My purpose for this tripod is predator hunting- not big game

makes sense, looks good!

Was that not a deal where they only built the few because they were using up some remaining carbon tubes that happened to fit building a 3 section?

Yes, they had some old inventory to use up and did a special run with Phil V. (sponsored shooter). As I understand it, the material was used up and they won't be doing another like it.

The new 3-section inverted will be a different design / different tubes.

I want a one series inverted for hunting.

I finally caved and bought another 1 series, the 13cx and I really like it. The 3 section is pretty stout in anything kneeling and below and it’s a small light tripod
