New Utah Weapon restriction hunts

Sure! I already own all three in those categories, so why not put the odds more in my favor if I were to choose that route.

There are people that hunt these general units annually and now have to buy a new gun. Some even 2-3 guns, depending on how many kids they have. @CorbLand you make a very valid point. We need hunters, and we dont want to lose them. I do however believe that game management agencies needs tools in order to ease the burden on them in situations like this. Maybe that is the key as to why the Wasatch works with archery only; because it doesnt have rolling changes.

400 yards is a long poke with a peep sight, my eyes just don’t do well that far out, but 300 would be doable. I like how the old Redfield peep has room to engrave yardage next to the MOA scale. It would be easy enough to dial with one of these.

That seems like a stretch. It's 3 units out of, what, 30 general units, and 1 LE unit. It seems like a good number to try this out on. If a person already hunts with a muzzy, it's not hard to switch from optics to irons.

It’s more than converting from a scope to irons for guys. You can’t use 209 ignition anymore either. It’s the rifle hunters that have the biggest financial burden and that is the bulk of the hunters.

Personally, I like the idea. Few concerns with whether or not we will get the opportunity that has been “promised” but overall, supportive of it. I just also try to think of the other people that are going to lose due to this.

I live in one of the units. A guy I work with has been trying to get his daughter a tag since she turned 10. This year she should have had enough points to get a tag, so for her birthday, before any of this came about, he bought her a gun, scope, everything. Been taking her out shooting, she was excited to finally get to go deer hunting. Well, he is going to have to find her a different unit and he has only hunted this unit. I feel for that guy and his daughter. He isn’t wealthy by any means, so turning around and dropping more money on a new gun is a burden.

Nice. By the time I figure out how to hunt with bows that have training wheels I'll be forced to learn how to do it with Trad bows.

What modern guns are even made out there that even have iron sights anymore? Not counting big bores and dangerous game guns, or things like lever guns or reproductions.

Does anyone even make a modern 223 or 6mm with iron sights?

Using an AR with irons would have been fine, but it looks like they banned semi-autos for that hunt.

You can't hunt until your 12 in Utah. Yes it sucks when your favorite unit changes, I had to shift units a couple times to try and keep my kids hunting.
