Introducing the Titanium Ultralight Pyro “RockSlider” Stove
First, thanks to all the Roksliders that have served as consultants and given feedback on this new stove. I will make a separate post in a few minutes but this responses is for those following along.

The current prototypes were all made by me so the finish quality will improve when we have the manufacturing equipment to make some of the finish details on the stove.

So far we are seeing much longer fires and coals than similar sized, weight titanium stoves. This is due to the chamber size and the earth acting as a thermal battery and providing insulation for the coals.

Set Up Time Under 1 Minute:
No small bolts or screws. 1 minute deployment is very doable with this stove. Your buddy can be building the fire inside the tent while you are setting up the stove. You can go from the stove being packed up to fully deployed with a fire going in a matter of a couple minutes all while keeping your gloves on.
Larger Capacity: This stove is 1,322 cubic inches. For reference, the seek SXL stove is 1,120 cubic inches. Some might say that the cone shape hurts the ability to put more and larger splits in the stove. Watch this video I made and it will show you that you can get about 25% more wood than the seek SXL in the current configuration on flat ground (without added excavation depth)
Excavation Design - Every inch you dig out adds around 250 cub inches. For perspective, most stoves on the market are around 700-1,000 cubic inches. So, with a 4 inch dig you end up with a insulated floor and 4 inch walls with a 1,000 cubic inch stove sitting beneath your 1,322 cubic inch stove. If you dig down 6” you end up with a entire XL lite outdoors stove beneath your stove. Add in the fact that the earth becomes a thermal battery and protects your coals you will see that the coals last for much longer than conventional stove designs. The difference is not small but it would be foolish for me to quote a exact time frame for how long your burns and coals will last. It is fair to say that you will get overnight usable coals for sure. A larger fire box with an insulated dirt pit will hold coals for significantly longer than any thin walled uninsulated titanium stove. Add in the fact that you can put much more and larger wood splits stacked perpendicularly and you will notice a significant difference. It is equally important to control the air flow intake
Fire Run Times - I won’t make claims on how long the first or coals will last in this stove in comparison to the seek, lite outdoors, Gohunt, Peax, stoves etc. I will say the answer is longer and as it related to coal life the difference is not measured in minutes but hours. This is not debatable. Is science. Using a pit in the ground and a having a larger chamber with larger doors allowing larger splits will give you longer fires and longer coal life. Overnight coals will no longer be something you have to wish for. It will happen. Obviously there is a difference in hardwoods and softwood. Dried wood and wood that is wet. Some people know how to control air and dampener and others do not care to or know how to. That said, whatever your typical fire strategies are, the fire and coals will last longer in this stove. Lots longer.
Weight: The weight will be around 2.5 LBS without the roll up stove pipe. The weight with the pipe will be around 3.5lbs. Similar to the seek SXL stove with stovepipe.
Geometry/Physics - Once the burn chamber and flue/pipe is warm this stove drafts incredibly well. Fire and hot gases rise, they do not want to burn horizontally to a flue pipe. This provides for even heat, easier ignition, better burn geometry, and more control when using the air intake vents and dampener. The geometry is less likely to yield super hot burns that create a red or orange glow. That actually anneals the titanium and hurts the life of your stove. Additionally, the bottomless design does not allow the hot coals to lay directly on the titanium floor which hurts and anneals the base of your stove.
Safety - I do not understand why some stoves allow you to simply pull the stove pipe out with hardly any effort at all! We fixed that issue! Our stove is first staked down with 4 6 inch titanium stakes (optional but very recommended). The flue inserts from the bottom and can’t be pulled through the opening at the top. We then use finger tightening worm clamps to secure the flue and stove pipe to each other. What you are left with is a solid stove. The stakes are also very helpful when loading larger splits. If you hit a side wall it stays in place. It allows you to be much more aggressive when loading wood.
Options - We will provide an optional bottom rollable floor for those that wish to run their stove without direct contact with the soil. This will roll up and fit inside the cone with the other parts. This will be sold separately.
Packability - This stove uses grade 2 titanium and will keep memory and be easy to roll up and secured with a strap. All the contents (7’roll up stove pipe, flue, spark arrestor, dampener, flue, stakes, worm buckles) all slide right
Wood Loads - Without excavation you can fit more wood in this stove than the seek SXL. With the 6” double doors it makes stacking wood properly much easier. Instead of simply throwing two large rounds into the stove you can stack wood perpendicular and get much more efficient burns with less risk of smothering the coals and fire.
Wooden knob on Doors - We have decided that is is worth the added couple grams to have actual rigid handles on a door that you can manipulate and
Double Doors - This is huge! Ever have your hunting partner sleeping while you wanted to add some wood to the fire? Well, now you can! Its twice as easy to keep a fire going when you have twice the help! You can also get ventilation from both sides which can be helpful. Additionally, if you cut a huge piece of wood you can run it right through both of the doors if you want. Finally, you can boil water and cook from both sides.
Staked To The Ground - This has offered greater benefits than we originally thought. In the beginning this was about safety. Having 4 titanium stakes that weight right at 1 ounce (for all 4) seemed like a good way to secure the stove to the ground. That said, we found several other benefits that seem significant when using the stakes. First, the doors are much easier to manipulate. When the stove is full staked to the ground manipulating the doors becomes much easier. Second, loading larger wood split is easier. Of course you are going to bump the sidewalls or edges of the door frame when loading larger splits. When the stakes are deployed the entire stove seems firm and permanent. This makes loading wood much easier when the stove is staked down.
Spark Arrestor and Dampener - Not much needs said here as most stoves have these. Ours does too. Due to the geometry of the cone the dampener is very responsive. I compare it to a throttle on a dirt bike or motorcycle. It is very quick to respond. It makes you feel like you are in control.
Looks - All I can say is Grade 2 titanium looks sexy after burn in! Love all the coloration. The colors are deeper with more blues, orange, reds etc. Grade 2 is stronger and has a higher iron content so the benefits are many! But, the looks and color of this stove are just plain sexy making it easy to look at!
Expandable Chamber - The chamber can be dug down as deep as you want but with the air control being at ground level we have found that over 6 inches sees no meaningful benefit. The added chamber alone can add up to 1,550 Cubic Inches of Insulated combustion chamber.
Roll Up/Out Design - Rolls up for easy packing and unpacking. Fits great in the side of most hunting packs.
Cone based 18 inches (diameter) - Allows for full splits of firewood and when used with a dug pit you can get much larger splits when loading at an angle.
Grade 2 titanium! - Most companies are using grade 1. Grade 2 pure titanium is around 40% stronger and has more iron content. Its more resilient under fire as well. Its less likely to pop
Rocks - You can place rocks in the base of this stove and they provide insulation and heat long after the fire is out.

PATENT PENDING DESIGN ELEMENT
I did secure this idea with a patent. Currently my patent protects any stove design (box, cylinder, other shape) that is designed for an expandable and insulated burn chamber that requires no additional tools or added weight/materials. You can double the size of your stove

As a thank you I am calling this stove the PYRO "ROCK SLIDER STOVE"

Packed dimensions are 7 inches by 16 inches. All contents including stove pipe are well protected and slide into the cone when packed. It fits perfectly in the side pocket of most hunting packs.

Lastly

Here is the reason I wanted to think "outside the box"

Conical shaped stoves are much better and here is why
1. Natural draft acceleration - Fires do not burn horizontally. Its not efficient. Natural draft is much better and gives you more control every time.
2. Centarlized heat coluimn - Much better drafting and better control. Easier to start fires. Easier to keep them going.
3. Even heat distribution - When your box stove glows red, that anneals and weakens the stove. Shortens the life. Its less likely to create this in a cylinder stove. Its just too good at drafting and distributing heat.
4. Structural Strengh - Grade 2 titanium is not second tier to grade 1. In fact it holds up to heat better and is 40 percent stronger. I am not sure why grade 1 is used to often. I
5. Improved Combustion Efficiency - No more dead corners so hot spots.
6. Reduced Surface area for same volume - Many benefits to this
7. Wood stacking - allows you to angle upward or stack perpendicular.
