New tricer bipod

This thread got me to this article with some time induced irony.

First paragraph talks about Matt:

Then further down, they talk about how Leupold is helping to fund initiatives for bigger penalties for "trophy" (based on B&C score) animals. I believe Leupy is one of his sponsors, seems they've gotten over it.

Thinking about drilling through the center of the mount and ball then sliding a steel pin all the way through or a bolt to allow it to cant but not pan. Anybody tried this yet?

I will be using a UHMW pin.
Afraid that steel will wear out the hole too bad

Not going to get to it for a bit though

Spotted shots seated with no rear support at 600 yards. Impressed. Pan did not bother me, but like everyone else here I'd absolutely prefer not to have to worry about it. Lever requires careful re-adjustment to avoid impinging on the leg width adjustment buttons. Leg width adjustment must be accomplished fairly evenly given the limited cant afforded by the ball prior to hitting the housing.

I had lever clearance issues too until I realized the lever position can be adjusted by pulling. This helps out with that.

I received mine. I recommend not using the supplied allen wrench to swap heads. Find a tight fitting 5/32 or 4mm one. Try a few to find the best fit. Generally, a higher grade tool will have better tolerances. It's even better if it's on a 3/8 drive socket and ratchet combo. Then u can be sure to have enough leverage to break in free and not torque it at an angle and stripe the bugger. Just some food for thought.

Another tip for rokstok trinity rail users is the trinity rail needs a whisper of filing so it clamps squarely. Just in the transition area from pictinny to arca.

Could have used this bipod last week, but I was in AZ... I fingered it for exactly 5 minutes when I was downloading my gear saturday evening after getting home. I don't recommend people constantly try to swap between pic, arca, and sling adapter constantly. Standardize the mounts on your guns or get a 2nd bipod. At first glance, The twist lock isn't super intuitive for a bipod but i could get used to it. I'll still stick with my Atlas for PRS/NRL and range work, but this is great for field use when you are dealing with uneven/sloping terrain. This bipod would allow me to actually cut a few #'s of weight from overall gear by going to a lightweight glassing tripod instead of using my shooting tripod. I could use the glassing tripod as a rear support and have the legs on the bipod fully extended.

I used the Tricer with ARCA and long legs at the Amarillo NRL match this weekend. DoveBlaster and I finished 2nd in teams.

I’ve been using the long legged hatch with ARCA mount & my teammate is using an MDT triple pull, but I can’t make weight with one.

I tried to stay open minded on the pan. After running it for 2 days/20 stages I can confidently say the pan needs to go. For a dedicated hunting rig it will probably be fine, as a competition bipod, the pan is cumbersome when needing to move and build multiple positions on the clock. I would like more can’t adjustment.

There was one stage where DoveBlaster was able to go high bipod/rear tripod with his triple pull and I didn’t have enough height in the Tricer, so I went clipped tripod front and tripod rear.

Overall I like it, the legs and splay adjustment is great. I’ll be working on a new yoke with no pan and increasing the cant adjustment range soon.

I’ll update if/when I have something worked out worth sharing.

P.S. I also lost a claw foot, it unscrewed while walking between stages.

While I haven't shot off my tricer yet I can definitely see the panning being cumbersome and unwanted for a comp. For hunting it would be great if you need just a touch more leveling

I shot the Snake River NRL with one this weekend. I also wish it didn’t pan and will follow those looking to pin it in place. I also found when it rained that the rubber grips you loosen for height adjustment got water underneath and freespin and you can’t actually loosen the legs to adjust height so was unable to adjust the height for about half the day and then it became usable towards the end as it dried out. I’ll probably try to seal or epoxy them in there so water can’t get underneath the rubber.

On the clock I found sometimes the leg started to unscrew from the attachment point while I was working a height adjustment. Since I won’t use this hunting I’ll likely clean them and epoxy them in place.

I’ll keep it and tweak and see if I can get it how I like it.

I love the button size and shapes though for the leg releases. Nailed those.

Got mine in today from GOHUNT and tossed it on my knight…relatively sure I’ll be in the minority with it on an open sight ML. Going to send some lead tomorrow
