After many months of saving and dreaming I finally bought my first bow! I bought a Diamond Core because of the versatility in draw weight of 40-70 and I wouldn't fit into a women's bow because I have such a large draw length. This bow is incredible smooth and comfortable. The only downfall is the sight and the rest that came with it are horrible so I immediately bought new ones to put on before even taking the bow home. I went shooting at the range last night for the first time and had a great time! I'm so excited to get into archery and hopefully fill a tag next fall.

Looks good! What kind of release did you end up choosing? And Craig is right, nice shiners on that forearm.

Welcome to archery, very addictive indeed.

A couple of small pointers that may help with accuracy and consistency:
- relax your grip on the bow, the draw weight will hold it in you hand just fine
- get a good anchor point so that the tip of your nose touches the string (adjust the peep as necessary). It just helps that repeatability to it becomes second nature.

I would add one more if I may......shorten your index release so the trigger is "deep" into your index finger not on your first digit. All these little things add up to consistent shooting! good luck and have fun

Good advice above, from my years working at the bow shop I would also recommend that you drop your right hand perhaps try to anchor the knuckle of your pointer finger behind your ear lobe, there is a nice pocket that should set you up with a solid anchor point. Also, from the picture I would venture to say that you are overdrawn by somewhere between one half and one inch. That bow has adjustable mods on the cam so the shop that sold you the bow should adjust it for free for you. If you try with a shorter DL I imagine that you will find it more comfortable and you wont smack your forearm as often as you should have a slight bend in your elbow. Sometimes pictures are deceiving so your DL might fit you but I'm fairly confident that its a hair long. Typically women need to shoot slightly shorter than a man of similar build due to the geometry in their elbows. However a competent bow technician in person will be able to assess you better than I can over the internet. Most importantly, have fun with your new bow!

Hey thank you everyone for your tips, I really appreciate it! There's just so much to pay attention to at the same time that it was a little overwhelming my first time out but I'm going again tomorrow so I will keep those things in mind this time! I ended up with a Scott Shark release and I like it a lot. I thought the trigger would be too light at first but it's actually just right. Yes, we go out to lemon valley!
