New TMK announced

I’ve still shot more tmks in an AR than bolt gun but I agree it does impact powder choice and they are deep at 2.25”. Still work good though!

Ive been wondering lately if anyone has barreled a 7mm08 with a twist that could accommodate 180s and what their velocities have been. Its hard to even find a load for 180s in a 7mm08, but someone has had to have done it.

Ive read of people pushing 180's out of 7mm08 with staball 65. I cant remember where I read it or what the barrel specs were but I remember it was really close to what my 22" 284 could push a 180 eldm

I’m looking forward to trying the 6.5 153gr pills in my 6.5 prc. Love how the 168gr “terminal murder kings” work in my 308 so these should be well impressive

This is spitballing, but a pointed 115 non nose ring dtac regualry trues out at 310g7 and the 115 tmk is right at 290, 7% reduction. I've shot a lot of 107 pointed smk, and a 280g7 has always done very well for me, so with that notion, I have a feeling it'll land somewhere in the low 260s for a g7, which is similar to where the 108eldm has lined up in the limited use I've shot them.

I shot the NR DTAC over AB's Doppler; it had the G7 at .292. I have shot over 3000 rounds out of a 6UM using this number and never had issues validating these bullets well past 1000 yards.

The TMKs will be better than .260

I understand that. I was referring to the "pointed 115 non-nose ring dtac" which I've shot around 6k of in the last 3-4 years. Just the nose ring is dropping g7 by near 0.020.

The 115 I'm referring to has a pretty similar profile as the newer pointed 107 smk. The old non closed nose 107smk was high 260s for g7. Let's hope for something in the 270s, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Gotcha,

My point was imo there is no way these tmks are gonna be 30 points lower.

We're talking 107s right? I think @khuber84 was guessing about 0.020 lower G7. If Pointed, non-nose ring DTACs are .310 and 115 TMK are around 0.290, why couldn't 107 TMK result in a similar disparity compared to pointed 107 SMK and end up at about the same BC as a 108 ELDm?

My RS crystal ball agrees.
It’s a small club and we ain’t in it.
If you’ve been paying attention the most vociferous are already changing tune on many of the old tried and true rs specials.
Few years ago the ELD-M was the “ELD-Murder” now it’s unpredictable.

The caps on the maven are so aggressively knurled you’re lucky if they don’t twist all the way off walking to your glassing knob. Better glove up if you need to dial

Classifieds finna be lit with 77 and 95 TMKs, 115 Dtacs and all manner of Hornady eld bullets. Then if the scope ever hits bar the doors as a flood of Mavens, trijicon and nightforce hit the classifieds.

Haha this is absolutely spot on.

Many of us have identified this trend a while ago and now just roll our eyes when rokslide crowns the newest and latest greatest. I can’t wait for this new scope, I’d love to add another half off NF to my collection.

we have lol

however,

while I think it's sad we don't focus our attention to measuring all the things that happen to these bullets in gel as a means to develop better terminal performing bullets I do appreciate that until we get to that point that the crew here, Form and gang, are at least taking things into their own hands, working with manufacturers that are willing to play, studying these tipped match bullet differences etc. and applying theories to how to make them more reliable on the tip design etc. and then doing the trial and error on bunch more live animals...it's certainly better than doing nothing,

and there may be an element of that which we've picked up on over the years....it's still good stuff in the meantime and 'best we can do' currently so giver boys, build a better eldm, hope the eldm people are paying attention and follow along, whatever comes of it will be good and as long as I can buy gobs of it anywhere in Canada like I already can of whitebox match then even better ;)

until then no sweat as whitebox match hasn't let me down even a little for years so just fun to watch how we progress this terminal ballistics side of the equation

I sure as heck don't see anyone else putting efforts into this so (y)

If a bunch of folks dump things I’ve already used and enjoy using, I will be quite happy. A bunch of TMKs, ballistic tips, ELDMs, etc. that are no longer flavor-of-the-month would be quite welcome in my reloading cabinet at half price.
