New TMK announced

I'm sure most of you talking about a 6-284 are going to use a Tikka but years ago I had some 6.5-284's. They fed but I had to be easy with them. Seems like on occasion I would have to help a round too. This was with adl Remingtons not mag fed though. I wonder if a 6-06 would feed better depending on the rifle type being used?

I have some sentimental model 70's that were gifts. One is a 300win one was a 30-06 I made a 280AI out of a long time ago. I've no use for the 300 and would like to rebarrel it to a big 6 if the long action won't cause feeding problems. At some point I would like to redo the 280 to a 6mm but due to the 6.5-284 I've kinda thought about a 6-06. Just curious and tossing it out there.

The 284 case works perfect with tikkas. There’s a lot of guys with them.

I would like @hereinaz to do one of this groups buys in one.

The only hang up I have in doing it is in an 18-20” barrel based on using AI to collect and analyze data, a 243AI is projected to get the same velocities with less powder.

This has been my problem with the x 284, real world numbers disappointed me compared to the cases just below and just above for case capacity. If I want more than the 243/creed I just go to the 6PRC.

My 16” 6 Creed is a 700-800 yard killing gun depending on DA.

I don’t think folks realize not only their capabilities (lack of) or their guns capabilities (way further than their abilities).

There’s probably only a dozen or so folks on this site that should even be trying to kill past 800. Even though everyone thinks they are that guy, I’ve seen nothing but the opposite.

Agreed, that is the bottom line. My 14” 22 creed is right there with your 16” 6 creed, lol.

I will still engage in the ballistic discussions. It’s fun. And, sells barrels…

I do like the 6 PRC for better wind inside that 600-700, but I have a 16” 6 creed I would take hunting anywhere.

I don't think everyone wanting or discussing shooting a bullet faster is trying to kill past 800 yards. That might be the logical reason to shoot faster but some might be doing it for a slight wind advantage or most likely just shits and giggles. I fall in the latter category. I don't have a big 6 but it's interesting to me but not for killing any farther away. I don't need anything other than 223's and 6cm's but I like messing with other things. No practical reason...grin.

Yes. Wind. I suck so a bit more velocity doesn’t hurt.

I've already admitted I don't need it but all kidding aside I like the idea of shooting a possibly better/heavier/longer bullet in a 18" barrel and getting roughly the same velocity as my longer barreled 6cm with 105's. I'll also raise my hand and move to the front of the class and say I suck in the wind too. Where I live and hunt its a non issue most of the time though. I've never faced a hunting shot where the animal was 500 yards and had to compensate for 15+ mph winds. It's not like that here in the terrain I hunt. Out west I've been lucky enough that I haven't had the wind and in most cases not had a shot opportunity so it didn't matter......lol
I practise to 650 but not like I should. I have scopes and information to take longer shots if the situation is perfect enough but most of the time the kills are 75-150 yards. I'd bet a dollar if I rebarrel something to a big 6 the first kill would be a doe at 143 yards.....grin.
